IRON MAIDEN FLY HIGH AGAIN ANNOUNCING TWO NEW ZEALAND CONCERTS AS PART
OF

THE FINAL LEG OF THEIR GLOBAL 'SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR'

Following the huge international success of their spectacular 'Somewhere
Back in Time World Tour 08' Iron Maiden will be taking to the skies once
again in 2009 for a fourth and final leg including 2 major outdoor shows
in New Zealand on their first visit since 1992 !

New Zealand Tour Dates

Friday 20th February Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland

Saturday 21st February AMI Stadium, Christchurch

Loaded up with a full complement of band, crew and 12 tons of stage set
and equipment, the band's customised Boeing 757, christened Ed Force One
by the fans and flown by Astraeus Airlines Captain and Maiden vocalist
Bruce Dickinson, will be circumnavigating 80,000km around the planet
for concerts in 19 cities in 11 countries, making it a staggering 37
countries in total visited on this tour, playing to almost two million
fans.

The 'SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME' tour revisits the band's history by
focusing almost entirely on the 80's in both choice of songs played and
the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production
of the 1984-85 'Powerslave Tour' featured on the recent DVD "Live after
Death". This is arguably the most elaborate and spectacular show the
band have ever presented, and will include some key elements of their
Somewhere In Time tour of 1986/7, such as the Cyborg Eddie. However the
set list for this leg will vary from that of the 2008 shows with the
inclusion of some of the earlier classic songs featured during the
band's 2005 Early Days Tour (which did not get to NZ), based around
their first four albums.

Says band founder Steve Harris "We are all so very pleased to be able to
get to New Zealand this time! We were disappointed not to have made it
earlier this year when we were in Australia, but, although we did try
hard, we couldn't make the schedule work. So when we decided to do this
last leg of the tour we felt that, despite the distance, we just had to
get there as we heard how disappointed our fans were to be missed out.
But at least we have our own plane with our crew and a few beers on
board to keep us entertained on the way down there!

Iron Maiden have always valued their fans and have made arrangements
with DCE for a special fan club first ticket pre-sale. This will ensure
that members of their fan club get first access to the best seats and
most importantly the standing tickets which means they are eligible to
enter the exclusive fan club draw to win special privileged first access
to the stage barrier. This first fan club pre-sale will run Monday 17th
and Tuesday 18th November. Full details of this and how to join the
fan club can be found on LINK <http://www.ironmaiden.com/>

A few of my mates went to the show in Sydney a few months ago, They still get a funny look in their eyes when they talk about it.Bastards.

This is footage from the show they went to, The guy with the camera must have been about 20 feet to the right of where they were standing.

Oh yeah, I'll post photo's.

Unless he muffs it and it sucks.

The centre piece is going to be the Eddie from the cover of the Somewhere in Time album. Further work will depend on how big it is and how it fits in around another tatt already on my back.

Grab a few tickets and i'll be happy to buy one off you.. otherwise i'll be camping out to get one in the normal sales.

I imagine the tickets will be somewhat expensive with the Dollar so high compared to the kiwi these days, guess we'll find out soon enough.

The online thing is £10 to join. You get the presales tickets that way.

But.. how big is Mt Smart? It's not going to sell out in five minutes, is it??

And.. if you're near the back, it's not as if you wont hear anything :)

Same venue that Big Day Out is held in. Rugby field, with grandstands. BDO usually caters for 50,000, but that's open other areas too, i'd guess 15-20,000.

I have 3 diamond tickets for sale. Just want to recoup what I paid for them. These are the best tickets you can buy, but they are standing and I decided after I bought them that I am getting to old for that.

So I have bought 3 seated tickets instead for myself and want to sell the diamond ones. Bought for $149 each and the $20 fee that visa charges for booking online. So $169 per ticket.

I chose the ezyticket option which means you get the tickets emailed to you. pm me if you are interested and I will forward the e-tkts to you after payment confirmed. I am still waiting on ticketek to send me the e-tkts, but they confirmed the ticket purchase went through.

Man this should be fun - reliving my mispent youth

Cheers

Lteejay
24th November 2008, 14:31
tell me about it - I expected the most expensive tickets would be seated and have a great view. But I suppose that is my age talking and if you want to be near the front then you have to stand and pay a premium. If I was 15 yrs younger I would be up there, but not anymore.

Its gonna be good - might be the last time they will come to NZ.

The seated section is off to the side quite a bit, so the view isn't the greatest. Hence slightly cheaper.

I can't imagine you'll have too much trouble flicking them off,

Looks like it's gonna be fully packed.. and for good reason.

Can't farking wait man!

I'll be doing the 'Matter of life and Death Eddie' tattoo on myself before the concert, should be good.

That tatt turned out really well by the way Headbanger, where abouts did you go? Looking for a decent artist to do an Eddie sleeve for me.. seen way too many Eddie tatts that look like utter shite.

Yeah, Though there is still plenty to go, From what I see most Eddie tatts fail when the face detail is done, They just look slightly off.

Work was done by Nick at Flamin Art in Wanganui, Been doing tatts for a long while but this is his first foray into making a living from it, I love his work so far, Got a Skull and Crossbones done by him on my leg that blows me away, and a mate got full sleeves, a lot of which is cover ups and thats also great stuff.

Have decided to change the tatt a bit, originally it was going to have numerous band mascots done in the background in black/grey, have now decided to have the band done on stage, with the Somewhere in Time tatt towering over them, Going to have Bruce waving the flag, Steve machine gunning the "crowd" Adrian and Dave standing beside each other shredding, and Janic left-right out.

Muhahahhahahha
