LOL, I se you have put me down for the ride.
Boxing day! Hell mate, just about everyone is getting over a good stuffing, drinking, socialising session from the day before. You'll end up with a gaggle of drunken bums on the ride. I know you want some good vids of bins but hell, no one will make it around at all.
Should make it the day after boxing day perhaps...no?

I do the odd adventure ride as well as road riding and have always thought that would be a good ride for the road riders and the adventure riders to join forces on. We could all meet at Kopu and go from there. The adventure guys could go the Tapu Coroglen road while the road guys do the Kopu Hikuais and we could all meet up at Coroglen for the mandatory beer and bullshit. From there the dirt trackers could go the 309 road while the road riders go around the top and meet up again in Coromandel. Just a thought. If you are keen on the idea it might be worth posting a thread in the adventure section.

For those in Auckland doing the Coro loop planned for Saturday, I suggest the following.
Firstly, the long range forecast is looking pretty good so far. I'm still in provided the weather doesn't turn to custard.
Meet at 8.30-8.45am at the Papakura Autobahn service centre first left offramp on the southern motorway after the Papakura turnoff, outside Autobahn Cafe.
Top up with gas, tucker and juice and hit the road sharp at 9.00am to meet Sidewinders crew and the rest at Kopu gas station at 10.00am departing from there at 11.00am.
Those who want to ride down there with me and other orks meet then. I will be pulling out at 9.00am sharp.

Ok, weather looks spot on. Looks like Sidewinder who organised the ride won't be able to make it :) Not sure if Carver is taking on the role as organiser or not but if not....
Direction around etc will be discussed on the day for obvious reasons.
I'll be at Papakura Autobahn on the southern motorway at around 8.45 leaving 9.00 sharp and again route to Kopu will be discussed there.
Should be a cracker of a day.
Observe: there will be a plane or planes in the sky watching traffic and radioing ahead, increased presence on all roads and perhaps random stop points so it will be a mediumish run and speeds will have to be watched. I don't particularly want to spend the rest of summer walking.
Normal rules apply:
1.The person in front owns the road so if and when you overtake, do so safely.
2. No undertaking at any time i.e. passing on the inside of other riders unless they have made it quite clear to you that it is safe to do so and they know you are doing so.
3. If and when you overtake a car or other rider make sure that you check behind you first to ensure no one else is already overtaking.
4. Don't try to be a normal Kiwi by upping your normal pace to stay with a quicker rider. Ride to your own ability envelope. We want to avoid bins.
5. Enjoy yourself, have enough to eat and keep your fluids up (water) to stop dehydration.

Yep nice day ahead tomorrow. Great chance for a good number to get out and have a decent ride.
Wise words Beyond. I doubt any of us can afford to lose licences or need the extra bills care of the 5.0. at Christmas.
I agree about avoiding bins - those rubbish-bins are more solid than they look! Someone could really hurt themselves if you hit one of those.

Yep, Kyle, seemed like a nice sort. Wasn't too far behind the whole group either once we got to Coromandel.... heavy traffic would have helped.
I thought he was going right around but must have headed back the sameway so didn't get the chance to talk to him again.
Update: He binned it a couple of days later on Whangamata/Waihi road... no damage, rode it home :zzzz:

Yeah a bit harsh, na i dont attract those guys i just read all there posts... It just frustrates me when young guys are told na you cant come your too slow lol When i started riding all the guys from bay ride were more then helpful even with my olds and my sister. They would all go hard then you would see them all waiting at an intersection or something and that was half the fun. Thats a pretty good time around taupo raj but that means you will still get lapped in a 20 min session ;)

Fair enough.
Unfortunately Raj is given to shall we say a creative imagination - reality is, no one gets left behind. I've only been on one ride where people didn't wait at intersections and that was advertised that way.

well yes, and a big part of road riding involves leaving room for the unknowns, cops, surface changes, traffic etc....

I'll second that, the boys did wait for me at the intersections, and Raj even opted to ride behind me down the Tairua twisties to watch my lines

An old saying goes ike this "He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day."
In our terms it's "Those who ride and return home safe and sound, live to ride another day."

My all means believe in yourself.
Believeing in yourself is a confidence in your ability to achieve, not believing you achieved when you failed. Keep it real.
