Looking for some good quality saddle bags for the V-Strom. Need to be a decent size (say a weeks clothing etc).

I don't like the Oxford 'style' they look more 'sports bike like' for my taste.

Obv - being an adventure bike - leather and tassels is no the look I'm going for either.

Using the above criteria - can anyone recommend some good bags suitable for touring.

hahaha, you can have mine. Oh wait, sorry, I'd need surgery for that!
I know, but I just can't help myself

I recently got some Andystrapz pannierz, (http://www.andystrapz.com/productdetails.php?pid=34&BACK=51) and I'm really pleased with them.
They look good on my chook chaser, but may be a bit rugged looking for the Vstrom

So you want to look tough, but not harley tough (tm)?

I looked at some Ventura ones on TM a while back - they looked fairly decent.

I've got a pair just like the andystraps ones but from germany, they are great.
Light, easy to pack and durable.

I also have a pair of large aluminium panniers, these are a pain, unless you want something to ride over or a table to cook your dinner on.

Wot Rosie said...Andystrapz is the best! Great value @ $300 ish and very durable.

Pity there made by convicts but you can't have everything....

Have a look at Drybags as well (canoeing gear for stuffing things in) which are great for sleeping bag size things.

Note to Rosie......see I can stay on topic. :bleh:

Hiya Tank,

How much do you want to spend?

I've been looking at saddlebags for my VStrom also. Priced them at a bike shop and they were $600+ complete with frames; GIVI or similar hard cases. At the moment thats too much $$ for me so on a solo tour (without pillion) I may settle for a tank bag and the large GIVI rear case on my bike, along with a soft expandable GIVI bag on the pillion seat that I bought earlier this year before I had the Strom.

1Tonne.co.nz has great prices on saddlebags although the style is for cruisers: http://www.1tonne.co.nz/index.php?page=catalog&categoryid=7
Personally I do not like the Andystrapz pannierz bags since they _look_ cheap.

Where you going touring? If you get to the Wairarapa, look me up and I'll shout you a drink.
