Well fair enough... If you don't like Guzzis don't buy em.. More and cheaper for me... :yeah:
But it looks like a little V35 or V50. They can be troublesome but no more so than other similar bikes of the era. Treated well, properly serviced and ridden as intended they have a reputation for excellent reliablity.
Some are better than others for sure. If you want pure mechanical reliability and a predictable life, go Japanese (even they have made some true horrors) if you want image go HD, if you want soul, a roundcase Ducati or a Vincent. If you want a practical combination of all these thing... You cannot beat a Moto Guzzi....

well Kickaha was that the reaction that you were waiting for?
Ok the bike in question is in that state because, and only because the twit riding it conected a crank breather up the wrong way round...... ie: he presurised the sump resulting in that mess......... some people should just stay away from such bikes as Guzzi, and Kickaha tell us how the wee 500 went up against ya BMer....... kicked your sorry arse now dident it..... even back in 80 something.
ps: I just couldent let the truth not be heard......... BiffBaff... shame on you :wari:

Thats right spoil the limited amount of fun I get to have,I was going to tell the real story eventually
Well that pic is parked on the side of the road just out of Springs Junction on new years eve 1989 when the boys were off for a quick ride around the block
At Springs Kenny noticed a little dribble of oil out of a crankcase breather and decided to reroute the breathers which culminated in the above mess and a general pisstake of his mechanical ineptness
And yes it did kick my R75/7 BMW riding arse ONCE!
it was a sweet bike to ride (V50)with brilliant brakes but after being sold to my flatmate one day it returned home on a trailer having stopped with a noise like a broken chain we pulled the front cover off and the timing chain was still intact so we pulled the heads, hmmmmmmmm all the valves are still there and it hasn't dropped one
As we pulled a barrel the piston came out with it,what had happened was it had broken the rod through the little end,the rod dropped back into the crankcase and flailed around as he came to a halt doing even more damage so it was sold minus motor and eneed up having another one put in it ex Australia
