No fuel on #1

Brought above bike dropped - have done head gasket/cam cover etc/ changed plugs and she's not running right

I borrowed one of those laser temp guns - took the bike for a quick fang number 1 exhaust 30C - hmmm

I've checked the spark plug - everything looking fantastic apart from the new plug still looking new

I wound it over with plug out and its not being fed fairyfarts from the gremlins in the carb. There is good pressure (pulled the balancing nipple thingy off whilst running and it seemed Ok)

Apart from that i can only assume main jet. I am Dling the gsx750 manual now and will investigate. But it can't hurt to ask for help

Well I'm stumped...

Pulled apart carb #1 and cleaned all that I could.

Still no joy.

Maybe it's time to go to the shop

Yes that was the first thing i checked

I'll have another crack tonight - check the settings etc and see what I come up with.

If nothing else its a great learning curve...loving having to fix it. (does that make me a bad man:blink:)

Two thoughts here...

With the spark plug out it is unlikely that there will be enough sucky stuff to drag fuel through anyway so that may not be the prob.

You can check spark (tell me when we are sucking eggs here) with the plug out of the motor, put the plug in the spark plug cap/lead and hold it against the block, carefully start the motor. You should be able to easily see a clear spark. (whats the odds he gets a shock?)

And if there is a spark, then put the plug back in and leave off the spark plug lead. Take out the air filter and put your hand across and fully block the the intake to the offending cylinder in the airbox, crank / start the bike for a few cycles (not too much, couple of seconds max and no choke). There should be petrol on your fingers and the spark plug. It will likely run like a total dog if it only has 2 coils.

If both are still dry then the likely reasons (but not the only ones) will be the float bowl is not full enough, or there is a blockage in the pilot jet route, or the motor is not sucky (expensive option?), or there is an air leak between the carb and the block.

Are you sure that the jet is clear?
Maybe a big air leak between carb and cyl. no. 1?

open drain on the carb and see how fast fuel comes through...

poke a bit of easy start into #3, if spark is there... it will run on 4 cylinders, if fuel isn't getting through, it will revert to 3...

Ok fuel in float bowl but dry plug.
Ahh but headgaskets been replaced so therefore definitely all has been disturbed
My first thought was bent inlet valves in that ole
Second thought was How did he stop crap getting into the cylinder whilst all was in bits --IE is there a rag still stuffed down the ole
Third thought similar to second thought during assembily did sommat drop down and block the inlet manifold
last thought was just blocket main /pilot jets dude to crud

Ok update

Took carbs off - checked everything again. Main jet clear, carb bowl filling, no crap in bowl.

Reattached and sprayed engine start into #1 whilst running and it kicks in for a second or two and then cuts out. I put my hand over inlet end and there is good pressure sucking through and it did leave it wet from petrol.

From here - going to take em off again and clean all the carbs, go and borrow my dads compressor to blow everything out. Check compression on #1. (although i don't think thats the Issue) Whoever last worked on the bike last was a butcher which doesn't really help.

I really don't know if i should bother as yet anyway - I have a major cam chain rattle and wondering if it's just a case of pulling motor and full rebuild. unless someone has a good GSXR1100 or 1200 bandit motor floating around per chance?

Well I may have found a GSXR1100 motor.

Well its actually a whole bike in bits - been rebored, wiesco pistons has yoshi stage 2 cams.

Would mean needing to put it back together - but i have a few weeks off so time isn't the issue, have to convince CFO to fork out some more $$$ to buy it. then I'd have to sell the bike minus motor. Not all that keen on the look of the 1100.

Seems like an expensive way to fix a cam chain but the upside would be I wouldn't have to go to anything more powerful in a year or 4.
