View Full Version : Our Beautiful Country
Unit

Ok there are some new members here who live overseas I would love to show how beautiful our country is, from a motorcycling point of view.
Anyone who can post up pics and vids, especially of scenic views from their rides, I would greatly appreciate it. Saves me trolling throughout this extensive forum, and gives our overseas guests a look at how lucky we are over here.
Bikes and people included in the shots even better...
Cheers folks

The cynical side of me says "Do you want the REAL NZ? the one where colse-up you see 100's of V-cans/bottles, booze-bottles (both types: broken and unbroken) ciggy packets, KFC, and Macca wrapers littering the countryside?"
But the above pics show the nicer side!!
We do have a marvelous collection of scenery with a great variety on a short distance.

Without checking each, I think all were taken on one quick 8 day trip to CHCH and back, part work, the rest riding.
I guess you never appreciate the scenery near home, because you'll see it tomorrow. Mind you, all those shots were:
- oooh, this will make a nice shot
- *screech to halt, whip out camera, take shots with helmet/gloves etc all on, pack it away, jump on bike*
- back up to cruising speed...
after all, timetables have to be kept

Funny that,
I was just saying to the missus that I should invest in a pocket sized digi camera to bring out on rides for tht very reason.
Mate, once my lead digit is removed from the backside I shall take some and post em.
This is, as many of you have so rightly said, a great country....:niceone:

Hey Sinfull
great pic's. Ones of the beach taken down by the Waitohu stream end if I'm not mistaken. Pic of the dog in the stream reminds me of the time I took my german shorthaired pointer down there. She got caught in quicksand right on the edge of the water. nearly lost her. Quite scary at the time.
The footbridge up the gorge? Is that the one by the school house flats??
A place of true beauty the old gorge. Shame old Charlies power scheme never got off the ground, but then again maybe it was best. Mother nature and the nob's in wellywood were against him from the outset. Got stuck in the MEG in an old FORDSON truck many moons ago. It went in OK and never had the legs to get up the other side. Mates had to walk all the way out to Arcus's. Ian came out in the landrover to pull the truck out. LOL that was about 3 in the morning by the time they got back. Funny as hell when you look back on it.

Say we'll be spending a bit more time up there this summer, Mrs is a bush nut and there be dozens of great hikes up there, where as i'm a beach bum so give a lil take a lot lol !
