Just recently brought a zxr250 :/ class c :/
bout 3 months back!!! Loving the thing like crazy...
TIl monday morning.... On my way 2 work heading down barrys point Rd takapuna... Traffic built up in the right lane.... Left lane empty, i decided 2 change lanes.... bout 55k on the clock, and out of no where some fucking cage driver pulled out heading in the opp direction, pulling out infront of me taking me out bike and all.......
My bike poking out of his front left side, a dent in the window barrier from my shoulder and a smashed mirror from i dont know what.. leaving me gutted and the prick unhurt yelling out 'did anyone see that? who was in the wrong?'....
2 cut a long story short, Dont blame the riders, blame the bitches behind wheels wearing seat belts and the rest......
QUESTIONS...
Anyone heading 2 the shore from the city mind picking me up?? :D
OR
Anyone wanna sell me a cheap bike?
OR
Anyone wanna come by and check my bike out, and give me some advice on what i can do.... The owner of the cage wants 2 settle this out side of insurance :/
ARRRGHHH!

Bummer :Argh:
1 - Have you got insurance?
2 - Why does she want to settle outside insurance? - has she got a record of this sort of thing and if it goes to insurance etc, will she lose big time????
3 - You had 50k on the clock!:niceone:
(hey - post no 666 - time for some deathmetal on Winamp!)

mate, get witnesses (I hope you did?), don't admit any form of liability. definitely go through the insurance if it was his fault... unless of course he's waving several thousands of $$ at you!!
as for getting the damaged assessed if it goes to insurance(sounds like a right off unless it was brand new and worth a packet), get it done at a decent bike shop. I'd suggest spectrum if you're on the shore... no one has issues with them and they know their stuff. I wouldn't waste time with the insurance companies assessor unless its well rooted (why not take a pic and post it on here so we can all see?) as in my experience they don't know sweet sod all about bikes and seem to think it'll be ok if its painted right!
bummer to hear you got hit though. been there and it ain't pleasant! (talk to a dude called Nhuahn for solace on that one!)

sucks hey kerran :( hey dude i thought ur boss might take bike in van? if not then i spose i could try around working etc, u picked a shit arse week for it tho buddy :S next time b4 u plant hte bike ask me if i got the van etc :p heh.
anyways yeah guys problem is he doesnt want it to go thru insurence.. because he lacks a licence, and then police will get involved, and then he gets fines... not wrth it, if the guy can present cash to a quote from somwhere b4 its done then grab it!
thats my 3cents

feck, if the guy driving the cage hasn't got a licence, I suspect thats a bloody major reason why he crashed into kerran!!
I say make him pay... one way or the other. if he can't afford the time (or fine), he shouldn't be doing the time in the car.
man... do the rest of us a favor if he's not falling over himself to REALLY help you out (i.e new bike better than the zxr): take him to the insurance and get him off the road before he hits some other poor bugger who's not as lucky.

noo CK, i must have been mis-interperated. KERRAN DOESNT have a licence :S AND NO ANT... ok.. kerran going up 2 lane road in left lane... dude ON OTHER SIDE of road indicating waiting to turn into a driveway... the traffic in the right hand lane going kerrans way makes a gap for him.. he sticks his beak out to see if anybody is coming down left lane.. or at least thats what most would do.. but he obviously didnt see bike and just floored it to make it into driveway in time, didnt leave kerran any way of getting around him.

sounds like KK was there, so Kerran has a witness.
best you 2 get together and get the story straight ;)
nah, thats a bummer Kerran, sorry to hear about it. :argh:
I've only just got my bike back from repairs after a wee crash.
Took it too Spectrum (as CK advised). They are just off Barrys Pt Road.
um, so were you in the wrong or not?
which side of the centre line (in your direction) did this near head-on crash occur?
if they are going the opposite direction but collide with you on your side then it shouldn't be your fault.
but if they pull out from a drive/side road with clear indication and you can't stop in time.... bugger

the driver is DEFINATLY in the wrong, dont worry about that, its seemingly hard to explain, but just think of it as, he going down the road, a car coming head on swings into his path to dive @ a driveway totally not seeing him, he didnt have time to even think of using the brakes.
and no i was not there. anyways give the above situation with a 2 lane road the driver had to cross, and the first lane he crossed had banked up traffic that gave him a gap, and so he darted without bothering to check the next lane he jetted across.

right, gotcha.
Kerran, take your bike immediately to Spectrum motorcycles if its handy to where you are.
if you have to pay to get it there, then get a receipt.
Brent there will do you a repair quote (may take a day or two)
tell him the situation, he may have some suggestions.
because you don't have a license doesn't mean you a liable for your own repairs.
If you wanted you could involve the coppers but be prepared to pay a fine, but this will be a lot less than your repairs.
have yot told the guy you have no insurance or license?
if not, then don't! if so, then you dumbass.
if its all his fault and he admits liability and has insurance (or does he have no license too?) then send quote to his insurance company.

if he thinks he is in the wrong he may pay up -if he take it thru his insurance your screwed - no licence means you should not be on the road.
I would be prepared for a shit fight, once he knows what he is going to have to pay - he will go for insurance if he has it.
Most people look at a crash and thing a few hundred bux when it is thousands ............
If he has no insurance your screwed because you wont be able to chase him thru courts
best advice is learn from it and get a licence - it aint that hard.

What would be funny is, if you got your licence now. The insurance company didn't look at when you got your licence, and compare it to the accident date ;)
Just a thought :niceone:

Im one dude who does tests on sunday afternoons,
it takes about an hour or so.
while I appreciate you work on sunday the reason I do tests on a sunday is that any other time, any area big enough to do tests is covered with cars .
There used to be someone doing them on Saturdays but he seems to have disappeared.
A couple of hours off work in this case sould save you a lot of money.

a dude for saturdays or sundays(based in massey and has own bikes)
Greg McQuillan
0274 599 933.
from having talked to him at length, he's good value and I will be getting some advanced lessons off him in the near future(when my account looks a little less sickly)

p.s. riding without insurance on a several thousand dollar bike ain't smart unless you really can't cut a deal with a company. riding without a licence tho really isn't smart. here's hoping you learn from the experience

but when I did some ringing around, AMI turned out to be best, however since my little slide I have lost any no-claims bonus and will be shopping around again (otherwise $100/month!)

If the offender wont come to the party and i doubt that he will , you'll probably have to go to the small claims court.
Same kinda thing happened to my mate, he T-boned a car that was diving into a driveway. Cops turned up and everything, the other driver gave a false name and details and has since done a runner.
My mate found out his name and where he was through the shop the dude was turning into. Still no money has been forthcoming tho'.
All the best m8 ...

If you don't have a licence you're stuffed, no matter who caused the accident. Insurance co's and cops will say that you should not have been on the road, end of story.
However, if the car driver is offering cash to make it go away, grab it and run Add extra to cover your inconvienience.

Sure they can, if they think they can get money out of you. I know someone who had a knock on the door from an insurance private investigator about 2 years after the accident. "can I have $50,000 please..." :buggerd:

How much is the insurance on a Yamonda kawazuki 250 bored out to a 400 with straight pipes and a home made turbo, not to mention decorative "eggs" on the tyres and "no8" wire branded chain?

TBH, i'd go to spectrum for repair stuff given the amount of happy people I've heard about that have been there but its such a hassle getting to the shore and back if I have to leave my bike there.. whereas I can also bus to and from mt eden on the way to work or home.

just my 02.
take the money & run. negotiate it soon as & keep your mouth shut. take Lee up on his offer, go get your license. sort out another bike but don't get it fixed at that price. sell it as parts or trade it at mt edens on something else. good luck.
