View Full Version : Biker vs Sparrow

A biker is riding along a country lane, when a sparrow flies up in front of him. The biker can't do anything and hits the sparrow. As he looks in his rear view mirror, he sees the sparrow lying in the road. Being the kind of guy he is, he stops, picks up the sparrow and takes it home and puts it in a cage, still in a coma. When the sparrow wakes up the following morning, he looks through the bars of the cage and says, "Shit, I must have killed the biker".
Anyone been hit by a bird, guessing it could be bad at speed although incredibly unlucky!
I got hit by somone shrowing a apple out the car in front of me once that was no fun!

Haha nice. Is he ok now?
Watch out for hawks. Big bastards, and they tend to use the road as a runway, ie staying in your path by flying along the road to get airborne.....

Totally!
Following a Toyota Congo Bonga Super Delux POS (or whatever they are) with a Island family in it. The kids finish their Brunch Bars and Grain Waves and fling the empty packets out the window at me as I'm looking along the side of the Bongo to pass!
Needless to say, I wound the bike up to 18,000rpm when I passed them, couldn't pluck the courage to flip the birdie nor was it appropriate.
Not happy when I got back home and a chip packet was caught in the radiator.

I used to always try to hit birds on the road because I know they always get out of the way in time.
One time it didn't. :bye:

I once was on a ride and following another biker then I saw this sparrow fly into the rear wheel of her ZZR instantly saw the head flying off then 5 seconds later the body went splat with force onto the ground. Gruesome!

Lol, I'm sure squid will be in this thread at some point... He was hit by a bird in the shoulder yesterday.
I've been hit on the hand by a bird... knuckles and fingers were bruised and sore for a couple of days and I had to pull out bits and pieces of it from the vents :blank: the bird exploded into a cloud of feathers, poor thing, although it was impressive!

Had a bird hit me when I was doing about 130ish.. Big gauge down the inside of my leather pants about mid thigh.. Dont know what happened to the bird, dont care - was no mess to clean up on the harley (other than the oil it proceeded to spit everywhere about an hour later!)..

Hyosung vs. what I thought was a rabbit. Scary shit when you've only been riding for about 2 weeks. Heading around a corner and slowed down since I thought the bunny was gonna do something stupid. Started to run in front of me and thought this could get interesting. Straightened the bike up, got off the brakes, made sure I wasn't choking the bars and thought what side to slide on if I came up.
Hit the bugger scare on with a bit of a wobble of the bars and then rode it out. Turned out it was a bloody big possum and I clean took off the head.
Hyosung 1. Possum 0
I thought it was a good way to learn how to hit things :eek5:

On my black zxr250 (last bike) i had a sparrow hit the screen by the mirror and bounce of the right side of the face.
Me, the bike and the helmet weren't marked but i need fresh boxers.. kinda like being woken up with a boxing glove to the ear.
Jesus, i thought that would be a good story...

Agreed. They are slow as anything when they take off as well. Seagulls are another one to watch out for. You'd know all about it if you hit one of those.
I nearly hit my neighbours cat going up the driveway the other day. Stupid half wit thing didn't even know I was coming until I was about 2 feet from it. It starts running one way then changes its mind and goes the other way. Had to swerve pretty quick to miss the bloody thing.

Yeah bugs make a mess of things, riding into a swarm of sandflies at 100mumble mumble is like a sandblaster in the face.
Hit a little finch thingy just out of Putarau yesterday, saw it fliting around so droped my shoulder to try miss it but no... WHAMO! My pillion just say me tense up then a spray of pretty feathers off my right shouder.... Then coming through Te Awamutu in the 70 zone one flew out at about eye height (visor open...) managed to miss that one though. lucky

lol i watched a magpie do a dive bomb on a fellow rider(with chrome colour
helmet) in front of me,the magpie skimmed his helmet & broke his windscreen
& followed his bike doing sausage rolls along the ground .Then that very same day after our swim at Waingaro hot springs, the rider riding shotgun must of ran out of bullets cause he got lined up real good by the magpie which sent him doing a super-haka(crashed)over the handle bars while looking for kumara's
