Hey, a few of us were thinking of going for a ride up to hanmer to relax for a week or so (isn't it good to be a student :p) and were wondering a) if it is legal to just pitch a tent on a random bit of (council owned of course!) dirt, and b) if not what the cheapest place to stay would be?

Thanks,

Joel

There is a place called the Top 10 Holiday Park or something.

Its a great place to stay, and will cost you about $40 for a night per cabin (includes a queen bed, heater, and a toaster and jug).

Otherwise its like 90 to 100 for a fully self contained unit that will sleep 4 I think.

If you camp expect to freeze your tits off over night.

Mate, we're students, freezing our tits off (figuratively for most of us....) is far preferable to spending money :p cheaper the better!!

have you had a look on google earth around hamner, there looks like some good spots near the river coming in to hamner or over the jollies pass rd and camp
by the clarence river.
all you would need is a sleeping bag, tarp and a 24pack each(do you know there is a meal in every bottle) and....:niceone:
