Anyone know much about ktm 50s?

As title says does anyone here know much about ktm minis?
i have been on ktm talk and someone from close to me has been having problems with their 50.
they took it to a bike mechanic for a rebuild and they stuffed up putting the clutch back together and put all the washers in the same way.
they have goit the clutch stacks the right way but the bike still seems sluggish they have said.
any one here know much about these?

Thanks I know nothing about KTM 50s mate but i do know from experiance that the last plate in on a TL has to be off-set from the rest a notch otherwise it just slips,may be well off track but you never know.

We had one for a while. Boy was I glad when he progressed to a real clutch.

The oil in these needs replacing just about every ride. Every couple of rides I used to take the clutch apart and completely wash the washers with degreaser or brake cleaner. To do this they should really invest in the little tool that you can buy for about $50.

Maybe the washers are all gummed up again. Welcome to a bit of repetitive maintenance.

i know people who have owned them and said they are crap....:mad: i think their just a little too much work, when their going they go hard though..

all i know is that they sounds like wasps, and its really annoying when theres more than 1 of them :laugh: but they do go hard!

Dont know how your stack is set but a good start would be to turn one of your washers around in each stack at the top or bottom ie ]]] before []]] after, this will make it throw out closer to the power band , make sure all stacks are same hieght,if coming in to late put some thiner washers in replacing the thicker ones. Hope this helps

the stack i have been running with good success is .650 and it is (())(())((()((()

I am not sure what the guy with problems is running but it is .650 too ,

we will prob swap my boys clutch with heirs to see if that is any different . and if still the same will swap carbs over.

i read in the repair manual the symptoms sound like it could be floats not set right and letting too much fuel in or a leaking float needle.

Interesting that u are using 16 cupped washers,We used use a max of 14 cupped in this order (())(())(())() & the rest flat to get the stack to .655 , with maxima x light oil , hit hard.Had to adjust them every week though.

The noise they make is incredibly irritating......does my head in.

Friends boy had to have two for MX or trail riding as one never lasted the whole day - always getting something fixed after every ride. Clutch never seemed to last long without needing pulling apart and adjusting.

ThanksIve got 1 in me garage, broken clutch spring, I know at one time you could get 2 types of springs for the clutch, a hard or a softer spring, the idea was the harder spring made it easy to ride for learner riders, as it required more revs to make it move, so wouldn't take of like a rocket.
The softer spring made it hookup quicker, man can they go.

the adventure bikes come with the springs in them but you can use the cupped washers for a harder hit.
i used springs in my boys sx before i ran washers in it and i must say the ktm places around this country are not really on to it .
they all said i couldn't do it but i had seen on ktm talk about it and the clutch is pretty much the same as the adventure bikes.
i dont it and man what a difference it made to lukes confidence on the bike, after a couple days i used the washers and he was away just point and shoot style everywhere.
