View Full Version : Lower your chances of an accident at Taupo on the 28th

Is there anyone heading down to Taupo from Auckland for the trackday that has a spare space in their trailer for a 999? I've got no mates going, no trailer and no Macgyver like ideas as to how to get down there. Could drive it down but means I'd be pretty weary on the track and probably crash into one of you... So in your best interests that I get a lift. Kidding, I'd be really grateful and pay my way of course.

Let me guess - you forgot that the 29th is Round Taupo (http://www.cyclechallenge.com), and now you can't find accommodation for love nor money?

Anthrax speaks troof.

On 28/11, sunrise is at 0556 and sunset is at 2022.

Trackday starts at 0930 ish and finishes at 1630.

The ride takes 3 hours each way if you cruise it via the totally awesome western Kihikihi and Mangakino route.

The weather will be fine.

HTFU.

The bus is perfectly comfortable.

It always boggles me how people think they're more likely to fuck their bike up riding at a trackday as opposed to on the road. Tip: you're safer on the track than you are on the way to and from.

Last time I binned at 50kph in town I wrote off a $20,000 bike.

Last time I binned at 120kph on a track the damage wasn't worth an insurance claim.

Ow much ??

Snap!

Just don't bin the thing then. And if you do bin you'll sort something out. Or some one will sort it for you while you're in hospital. It's a track day not a race. How the fuck do you people survive without all your cotton wool?

S'aiight, it wasn't my bike.

:sunny:

but what was said damage on yourself?

Well, the adrenaline rush from all the sky-ground-sky-ground-ing got me a bit overexcited, and I had to smoke three extra cones that night just to get to sleep.

:sunny:

Tip: Don't stick out a hand when you're sliding along on your arse at over 100, or you will pivot up around it and start flipping, giving the track marshals an extra awesome spectacle to brighten up their day. (Aye Goblin!)

If you have a car with towbar, you're more than welcome to borrow my trailer. It's set up for carrying two bikes. PM me if interested.

The last thing you want on the track is a pack-rack. If you high-side and the bike chases you....as they do cos they have an evil sense of humour...you can be assured that the pack-rack will be the thing which finds your kidneys.

Sure, you can take off the top (staple) part, but that just leaves the two sharp bits to dig right into your kidneys, or your left eye...That'd hurt.

Lose the pack-rack. In fact lose everything which can be taken off.

Hope for the best but plan for the worst. I'd much rather be looking at what I don't need than looking for something I don't have.

As for the cotton wool jibe, this bloke is looking after himself (or trying to), he's not the one expecting someone else to clean up his mess.....

As a comment measured against the concept of dumb-and-dumber, yours, anthrax, probably takes the cake.

Next time your red-misted, knob-jockey attitude sees your blood running, you come over and see me. I have cotton buds to help you wipe off the embarrassment.
