YEEEEHAA!

Traded trusty old ZZR1100 today on a nice 2003 Kawasaki Z1000. Bright Orange with imported belly pan and radiator shrouds. God what a different bike. More I ride it the more I love it. Post pics tomorrow after I wash it and take pics.

Great choice Krusti. I was admiring a red one over a coffee the other day (owner is a member on here I think?)
It's such a high riding a new bike home.

Great bike you have got there. I love the orange and tried to get one when I bought last year. They were not imported here in 2004; Sawyers were unable to source one. So I got the red zed. 'Twas me that coffeed-up with MD at Martinborough a week back.

A word of caution. My seat cowl flew off on Saturday and, unsurprisingly, smashed itself on the motorway! Bummer!. The key lock system for the cowl is crap. The pillion seat goes on OK and has different fitting lugs to the cowl. I had noticed the cowl was loose when I was at the ghas station and re-locked it - or so I thought.

I shudder to think what robbery will be involved in getting a replacement!

Apart from that problem all has been well. Love riding it. Have done a couple of trips to Taupo and loved it to bits (in the case of the cowl, literally!). You will enjoy.

Warranty claim? Faulty design?

Great choice my friend...

I might well be riding one if I had the income to support it. Maybe after uni finishes... The titanium ones look damn sexy :yeah:

Nice buy.... That the one that was on Trademe?
I've heard some of the riderforums guys comment on losing the pillion cowl. I double check mine is hooked in the front and listen for a positive click when closing it, as well as check for it while riding occasionally.....

BTW, for anyone else, there was one on Trademe in the Napier region....

The bike definately gets more enjoyable every time I ride it, have fun......

Nice one Krusti. In the latest Performance Bike mag in the shops, there's a suspension set-up guide.

Cheers

That's really cool Krusti. Must admit the new Z's are cool. I'd really like one of the 750s. Damn, why do teenagers have to cost so much!!

Lovely pics Krust... :-))

Top Kit the old Zed! You lucky bugger!! How ya gonna keep the roadwheels looking gorgeous with all that exposed alloy?
I liked them so much when the Zed One originally came out that I toyed with the idea of fitting Z1000 roadwheels to my ZX9 cos I reckon they'd be the same fit. Guess it would be cheaper to
have my original wheels sand blasted and re painted/polished in the style of. Anybody got any contacts for such work?

Yeah...Went to Bike shop to look at possibly a new 636... saw the z1000 and like all us "know what we want" bikers changed my mind on the spot. Love the riding position, handling and attitude.

Appreciate all the positive comments. Cant go unnoticed now tho! :niceone:

As promised :2thumbsup
mate, that does look good...... now all ya need is a 79 Z1 in mint cond, the Z9 and Z1, Z1R hell and the Z1TC are legendary bikes.

Can ya get after market pipes for your thing? must look like the oem parts tho... and give us some feed back on how you find the wind with the lack of fairing.... thats the one thing that would bother me.

When I first test rode it I wondered, but after owning a Bandit years ago it didnt worry me.

I find now that it is not till 150+ that you really start noticing it and most road bikes I have had still gave some helmet buffering. In the rain I will probably get a lot wetter crotch tho!
