I shall bust the magic here. Currently I'm studying Linguistics :whocares: it's been proven that generally women use more correct and formal language both in vocabulary and grammar/sentence structure whereas men generally use simpler language and more vernacular forms including more swearing. :shit:

No they haven't, as such. This comes from computer science types, not linguistics types.

They've come up with a system that characterises data based on whatever turns out to be unique about it, and then 'trained' it with text input known to be written by either males or females.

The researchers behind it wouldn't give a toss about codifying the actual differences between male and female writing; they're only interested in building software that can learn what those differences might be. You could just as easily test it by training it to distinguish between photographs of puppies and kittens.
