View Full Version : The Van

I have recently purchased a magnificent, long wheel-base, Ford (they don't get any better) Econovan.

It takes one big bike and one smaller, but has a tow-bar, and I also have a trailer.

I'm not much into 'possessions' as in, "This 'thing' is mine and you can't touch it" although I'd probably have to exclude my undies, my dunny, and my Yami from that.

To me a 'thing' has no value unless it is being used for its purpose. The van is, to me, just a thing. Therefore I'm more than happy to share the use of this 'thing' with whomsoever wishes to use it to transport a bike or two to an event.

The only thing I ask is that the user respect the fact that the 'thing' will be wanted for use by others, me included, so look after it while you have it.

Apart from that; fill your boots. You need a bike transporter, then call me on 0274449847.

No charge. Just gas it up when you're done.

So far as I can see from my wall-planner (I like to plan my walls) I need the van for:-

1st PMCC race Nov 30. Taupo.

5th Dec for the dinner and stuff at Cambridge,

7th Dec. Track-day at Taupo.

Dec 15th through to Dec 29th (pit-bitching for Frosty for the 3-hour, but doing the half-track-day before hand. And also want to go watch the Cometary Race.

Sat 17th Jan. First Redline track day at puke.

Sat 24th Jan PMCC at Manfield.

Sunday 25th Jan. PMCC at Manfield

Thursday 5th Feb. Redline at Taupo.

Friday 27th Feb. Motott at Taupo.

Friday 27th March. Redline Taupo.

Sat 28th March. MotoTT. Taupo.

After that I shall probably take up lawn bowls. :--)))

You'll appreciate that all of the 'away' stuff will see me needing the van for the day either side.

However, if you're booked into any of the above-noted events and need transport then feel free to shout out loud.

With the trailer attached I can take two more big bikes.

Other than that, if you need/ want the van, holla.

Why does "evil twin" and "mini me" spring to mind ??

Hey, you old boot! Frosty has subsequently claimed "work pressure" and bugged out of the MotoTT day on 7th December. Personally, I think he's a bit scared to face me off. :--)))

Why don't you scrape the rust of that coffee-grinder you call a bike and snap up his place. I haven't told MotoTT yet so the space is still open.

There's room in the van for even your great lump of iron (What's it called? A duckwitty, a Dickwarty...something like that) :--))) and my precious Yami.

But you'll have to either cool your heels in a motel or book in for the Cambridge fund-raiser on the 5th.

I'm not much into dispensing with creature comforts, but I can't stand motels on two counts. One is the bloody cost, while the other is the beds. If you knew what inhabited motel beds you'd never stay in another.

And so I've kitted out the van so it can carry two bikes and all the accouterments stuffed around till I arrive at the venue.

Then it's out with the bikes leaving vast room for the bed, the instant hot-water unit which runs on gas. The flash shower-tent I've devised means a bod can shower in private, even on the road-side if necessary.

The same unit provides water for coffee and washing stuff.

Then there's the gas-fired, portable barbie. Hot-plate and grill, and doubles as a smoker.

Both of these are driven off a 9Kg gas bottle (installed).

Then there's the Crap-in-a-bag dunny...One would use this inside the flash Shower-tent.....Unless you're an exhibitionist.

A flash drawer set filled with all imaginable tools, inc 12V tyre pump, 12V drill, etc.

And so, as you can imagine. In the van you can plonk in your bike(s), hove up to any venue and be totally self-sufficient.

No more mo-bloody-tels.

As stated previously, just let me know if you want to avail yourself of the van, and providing your timing doesn't conflict with mine, then fill your boots. It's free. Just replenish the consumables upon your return.

On a nice sunny day beside S.H.1 would be a perfect place to take in the view and a good read of a bike book while sitting on
the "crap in a bag "dunny.
If it got too hot you could use a small umbrella to shade yourself.

I agree entirely. Taking a dump as and when required, providing one keeps one's private parts concealed...as you do when sitting on a dunny....is perfectly acceptable.

I'm not so sure I'd want to stop at a road-side strawberry stall, or one of those flash coffee stalls, if I witnessed the seller taking such a dump.

The brolly is a damned fine idea. No point in getting sunburn while taking a dump.
