Hey Guys,

With Xmas just around the corner, I am looking to gey away with by bike and boat in tow. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of a good spot to holiday with the family with both fishing (beaches and a boat ramp) and biking (trails or tracks etc) available locally also.

I live in Aucks but am looking for somewhere either north of Aucks or around the coromandal area??

I know whitianga used to have a local MX track that we had ridden - is that still there??

Any help will be appreciated...

Cheers

That's good to hear, I toyed with the idea a few months back and now thanks to spikedpunch reminding me with her comment I've sent off an email to the farm (mike) to see what space they have over Jan. Sounds an awesome place for the kids, plenty of stuff to do.

What track are you mentioning wednesday night?

We've got a track over here ( near Keri ) we ride Wed, Broxy reckoned you could rip it & do an AMA, which is a bit of an exaggeration, there's a few photo's here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1404744&postcount=160, it's 1.8km & hard pack clay, looking into rotary hoeing sawdust in there to try & open a few more lines up & a sawdust pit ala Taupo, it's nice & wide, but because of the clay tends to be a bit one lined.
If you go to Mike's drop me a PM & I'll give you directions, there's a few tracks around here actually ( 4 I know of, 3 private mx & one evil root infested enduro loop that would make chop cry with joy ).

The mx one yeah, wed night they are there 1/3 of the time & use it for training.
The enduro one :), not yet, it's kinda newish, though it's not a grovel as such as it's easily passable, just bloody tough to get any speed on( for me anyway ), parts are just a maze of roots & the less said about the wooden bridge when wet the better, we're going to start regular rides to practise for Riverhead/Woodhill/Taupo.
The grovel's I've been on tend to be Sunday rides on one of three properties this side of the island or Mikes place once ( the most evil grove I reckon was at his place, he has some real nasty stuff hidden away ).

Great, looking forward to your report! :niceone:
Yeah it sounds great for the fam, we've booked 2 nights in a tent and then 2 nights in a double ensuite. Kids are looking forward to goin fishing, sailing, kayaking, horsey riding and of course DIRTBIKING. Apparently there are heaps of riding trails and you just go for it all day. Bring your own bike and the trails are free to use. yeehar! :niceone::niceone:
