Took my hornet 250 '96, to get it's forks looked at today - I thought one side had been leaking, and also thought the bike's overdue a service. Sure picked a crap day for a ride, and sure enough the mechanic calls me to give me crap news. Forks have been 'worked' on before and they reckon should be replaced as they doubt new seals will stop the leaks, on both sides too not just the one I thought. Hammer-like indentations to the forks apparently. So can anyone offer some advice as to best (cheapest) way forward? I guess I could just leave them with new seals and oil - it's not like I make a point of doing stoppies or any other fork stressing moves and have had the bike for a couple years so it's been this way since before it arrived in NZ. Does anyone know if other forks fit the hornet - I was thinking cbr250 (there's a set on trademe at the moment for $180 or so)? Or is there a possible work around to replacement that I read in other threads (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=55479) that might work here? Thanks for any suggestions.
