Took a 91' ZZR 600 with 90,000km(high I know) for a testride yesterday in the shite weather. It's a little top heavy and the suspension and brakes a little soft.Didn't push the acceleration and handling in the wet. It's going to take some getting used to after the GN250 so it will be like learning to ride again for a while. It's not perfect with the LH fairing cracked and mirror damaged. The front RH indicator is cracked to.THe fuel light doesn't work and the rear suspension has a little up and down play. It was cheapish at $2500:whistle: and I had had enough of the GN250:scooter:. Anybody got any manual links so that I know what I'm doing when I start pulling her apart.
Anyhow looking forward to taking her out on a spin one of these weekends.Any other ZZR600 riders out there and anything I should look out for?
Cheers

:Punk: Way to go mate.... Thats a huge step from a GN. Welcome to the big boys toys. Yes the older ones are top heavy, my 900 is like pushing a truck at times but I love it untill some ones swaps it for a naked one I am happy.
ENJOY

What is cheap then? It's done 90,000kms so can't be that bad.

Thanks mate , hope to catch up with you some time since your out my way.I remember taking a ZX9r for a testride, most awesome acceleration I've ever experienced. Ye its going to be scary and tip toey for a while until I get used to her and my limits and quirks.

meh i got told my zr should hemmorage head gaskets every so often oh well. I suggest u follow the service manual to fix stuff, rather than takin it 2 a shop. I took mine to 2 shops and a grand later it was still fuxed so i tried to do it myself.

Thing is it probably will have a few teething problems for a while but once u have replaced/repaired the problems it should be a solid bike. I think when u get a new (old) bike u gotta do maintenance and fix it a bit and then it should perform. Hopefully urs runs sweet from day one!

Got George the Bike Doctor to check out the ZZR600,said it was pretty good despite its age and the high kms.Getting him to give it a birthday this Friday, service, replace all fliuds, front brake pads, strip and clean front brake calipers, replace some instrument bulbs, lube everything etc.Need to get a new front tyre soon.Brought it home through rush hour traffic.Only slightly uncomfortable on the wrists.Road like a nana, never went over 6000rpm(redline is 14000rpm).Still getting used to front, feels a little soft and vague, just need to tune into it.Was a real buzz, she is a real snarling animal, like a coiled panther waiting to unleash it's wrath.Picks up revs in a heartbeat ,with a nice snarl.
I'm looking forward to becoming properly aquainted with it,but for now it will be softly, softly.
