I have a ferry booked on 31.12.08 heading south for a week with my new lady. I am after somewhere special to stay that night.

As I have said I have a new lady, she is gorgeous and I want to make the first night of our holiday something special (I would say romantic but that is a girly word!!)

Not just a normal hotel, motel, camping ground sort of thing, but something we will both remember for quite a while.

So can anyone suggest anywhere between Picton and Nelson (or near Nelson) that would fit that criteria?

Take what you can get mate. All of Christchurch and a good deal of Wellington goes to Nelson or Motueka way for New Year. Only time I've ever had trouble getting somewhere. Ended up halfway to Collingwood (exaggeration) without a booking.

Heh. I'm going to resurrect this thread a year from now after you've broken up.

You didn't mention a budget.

Grampian Villa (http://www.grampianvilla.co.nz/). Run by bike people. I recommend the Fern Suite and the bath.

That looks very nice thank you Colin (although don't like the 9 month post...)
