Not sure if this is the right forum but I'm sure the mods can move it if you want. Anyway...

When I was younger it seemed like there was a lot more talk about Jared Love and I remember he was on some Honda team with another well known racer (might have been Aaron Slight, no idea really) but now even at the street racing series there doesn't seem to be as big of a deal about him. So whats the story? Has he stopped racing as much, gotten worse results or what? I'm assuming he carried on racing after he broke his legs at Paeroa?

I hear a rumour you'll see him on a K8 600 this year. He's still floating about

He has been riding for the "Fast By Marcus" race team.Pedling a 998 last season and he had a new 999 SBK for the 08 season but the race team let him go and put his bike up forsale. He raced on it at the Sound of Thunder and Won i believe and he also did some of the AMCC club rounds.... We have purchased the "Jarrod Love 999" and "Drew" was going to ride it,but the econmy down turn means we will moth ball it for now.Im sure "Flame" will get her hands on it sometime...

Just goes to show ya that talent isn't enough to "make it" in little ole NZ.
I remember doing my 1st few Honda training days with Jarod, he'd just signed up with Bluewing and his attitude was infectious, cool to talk to and happy to tell ya anything. Was partnered with Dean Fulton(I think) and did pretty well against better bikes.
He won a few races in Aussie on the Ducati with Marcus too.
Be good to see him back out there............

Kinda bummer he isn't bigger. Back when I was like ten, he was like THE MAN to me and my mates and now he seems to have dissapeared. I'm sure we'll see him at Paeroa next year anyhow.
He was in hospital next to my stepdad when he broke his legs at Ptown (yes, ptown G) and I stupidly opted to stay at school for a test rather than go and stalk him bahahaha

When we moved to Auckland, we bought our first NZ car from Jared, when he was working for a (car) dealer in Manukau. Big bugger & very affable who, during conversation about where I came from, told us he won Best Newcomer at the TT a year or two prior. Instant respect, right there :headbang::not:

Then a coupla years ago, I was reading a bike magazine showing the 'hot off the press' pics of his his Paeroa crash...about 10 pages before the ad selling the very bike he'd just binned.

Kinda ironic I thought.

There was a big ginga (6'4"?) car salesman in South Auckland, lived out Miranda way, who won best newcomer at the TT. I bought the Ohlins for my Hornet off him. He used to be on KB many moons ago, probably with a nick like bloodnut.

I didn't meet him, he was at work when I picked the shock up, but he'd defintely done good on the Island.

I sense that very ginga's presence is near...

And just for the record, who was he on the honda team with? I'm pretty sure the other bike was #100 but I could be wrong. Who was that back sorta 2005ish?

you are talking about a different Jared, i think the guy you are talking about is Jared Gillard, had a car yard in Pukekohe at one stage,

as for Jared Love's team mate on the Honda # 100, it was Dean Fulton,

My bad. You're dead right scott411, Jared Gillard is the fella I was thinking of. Thanks for clarifying and apologies for confusion.

...Got yer all thinking though, eh:msn-wink:

Back on topic.

Jared Gillard isn't of any relation to Blake Gillard, is he??

Yep Jared is back riding like has been said, he helped me out with road racing quite a bit but also told me not to race cause the tarmac hurts! I kept the mx bike for a few more years and realised the dirt also hurts but it seems it hurts you more often!!

Yea but it doensn't cost hundreds to tape up a pannel or straiten the bars which is about the worst thing you can to your dirtbike :)
