Alrighties.
I have decided to give Lady P a makeover to get more power and handling out of her for the Taupo weekend.
First up is a new exhaust to unleash some lost horsies that the current restrictive exhaust is not allowing. For this I bought a muffler off a KXF250.
She's substantially bigger than the current pipe !!! Just working out the header dimensions to use now.
Also, a Race CDI was bought. Don't know if this will help but will try anyway.
Plus will get myself a high-quality plugcap, lead and coil to replace the standard tempermental one.
Next up will be upping the compression ratio and a hotter cam.
Once the engine is done, the handling will be next.
I have CAD designed a forkbrace which I will fabricate from sections of solid alloy. This will be a 3-piece one to enable it to be easily made. Then swingarm-bracing will be done with box section steel welded to the top in a triangular fashion.
Lower clipons will be made with the front fairing modified to clear them.
I'm also going to replace the rear seat/tail fairing to something bigger and stronger too.
Stay posted for more updates :)

That is one serious looking exhaust.
More HP sounds good, but more importantly what does it sound like? :shifty:

Part 2-------
(sorry not heading to Taupo now, TZ350 :( )
Bought a fork brace from ShelRacing after contemplating fabricating once myself. I have to say I'm very impressed on how well it is made, hats off to you, Steve !!
However, it didn't quite fit (which I already knew). The fork legs were slightly smaller in diameter plus they're slighty further apart ....(sounds like an ex- girlfriend  )
So, I made colletts (spacers) and a new centre brace that bolts up. Seems to all go together and after a little angle-grinding on the front guard that bolted up fine too.
Next step is to concentrate on the header and muffler.
What I discovered is that the overall diameter is fine for what I need but then it's doublewalled, ie a sleeve running all the way through that. This would partly explain why it feels so restrictive in the exhaust. So, I had to figure out how to get it out. I knew I would have to chop it at least once to move it around to meet the new muffler so i decided to chop slots throughout and bend the pipe back. This way I can chop right through the inner sleeve and not all the way through the outer sleeve keeping the basic shape intact for rewelding.
It'lll look a little messy but if I grind the welds back a little and flat black paint the header it should be presentable.

Looks good, Fork brace worked out well eh.
For the header, on the Delta I used a Suzuki Goose sports pipe and cut off the flange and re-welded it. The Goose internal Dia is much bigger. I just had to take the edge off the outside to make it fit. I'm sure it's made a big difference too. Should be able to make one fit The Loncin as it's much the same as the FXR.
Are you still going to Taupo. ?

I'm pleased with how the forkbrack came out. It's made the fork-twisting non-existent now.
I'm hoping this header will make the difference I'm looking for, ie unstrangle it !!
Hmmm, Goose header ay, may look out for one of those :)
No, I've had to can Taupo unfort, just spent too much $$$ lately.
I will work on going to Roys Hill next year though. Love to try that track.

Alrighties...
Work hard today trying to get her ready for tomorrow but just wasn't going to happen. Ran out of alloy to make some brackets for the new tailpiece and also needed to get some exhaust brackets.
Anyway, here she is tacked together for a pic.
I'm going to repaint her soon also.
