l wasnt aware that Hyosung had entered the off road market. The only off road product they make is an ATV 450. I was under the impression Hyosung were now making fairly decent scooters and 250 and 650 cc road bikes.

That my experience with Hyosung has been all good. I've sold quite a few second hand (we're not a Hyosung dealer), and they've given us no issues.

Most people to day buy on price if they walk around every shop and look at price tages of course they are going to buy the cheapest and find out hard way (some times). Personaly i think for a new person out that has lil cash it will get them started. At the end of the day it comes down to how much fun you have and also skill leavel at both maintaining and riding the bikes. I know alot of people that have flash bikes that get passed on trail rides by 20 year old xr200s that havnt been maintained in years. I know this because my mates YZF250 got a flat tyre so he took the old 1990 XR200 for a lap and we passed almost every body lol.

So, who is a muppet rider??? Define Muppet:baby:. When I overtake you do you then fall into this catagory?
You could be commenting on half of the KB fraternity here.
Interesting comments about Hyosung considering they make one of the best value for money 250cc road bikes on the market.
Come on CR125nz. Think about your comments or I'll send Gonzo around.:spanking:

We were all muppets once, apart from the unfortunate few who just never learn and advance.
Trail rides aren't a race and if you think they are then YOU are the muppet. It's all about having fun, for some people that means just getting out on their bike, exploring new trails and checking out the scenery along with enjoying the company of friends and family - for others it's about how quickly you can do that A loop and for a bunch of others it's how much mud you can spray all over your mates.
I agree that the majority of those Chinese & Korean bikes aren't much chop (lol) but as DELLORTO pointed out, we all have to start somewhere. Hopefully these people don't get put off by problems with their cheapie bikes and upgrade to better equipment as they get more into the sport. I'm all for entry level bikes and getting more people onto bikes, but reliability and build issues do worry me in regard to putting people off riding for good.
My definition of muppets would be those clowns that race up and down the road or around the car park at Woodhill or other trail riding areas or at trail rides and the ones with noisy bikes that are eventually going to deprive us all of land access due to their selfishness and short sighted actions.
Rant ends.

I would have to agree with most of the comments here, and I have to say im all for these cheap brand bikes it gives the guys with out much cash to spare a chance to get out there and have some fun and hey they might have a few hiccups along but whats to say they dont have as much fun as you do?? When I was younger all i could afford was very used bikes and they werent exactly reliable either, I guess everyone has their own opinion on this subject though.

I kinda agree, I started out on a chinese bike. Sure it was alright for the confdence but I would of been heaps better off with an old XR. EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING broke on my chinese bike. I was buying a new kickstart every 2 or 3 weeks because they would jst snap, everytime i dropped it the plastics would snap in 5 or so places :pinch: The shocks were so shit it wasnt funny either, after a jump the back would just bounce up and down for the next 20 meters :argh: I never got it to a trail ride though, me and dad were to embarassed! Plus i didnt want to be pushing it the whole way back! :bash: When i got on the KX it was like a whole new world! I started to enjoy riding!

on that note, my first bike cost a $1000 and bought it 2 weekends ago - '93 Yamaha 250:banana:. Unfortunately it was way to powerful for me (being a beginer) but my mate was using it and was keeping up with some newer 450's.
Though thats probably a lucky buy, no problems with it at all just minor things to replace.

That's not too bad a deal. Yammy 250's are nice motors. My XR200R cost me $750, is 22 yrs old and still goin strong. Same model from '86 thru to '02 so parts are a plenty.

One engine out of the many sold.
Suzuki would love to have such a clean slate. (besides, no one really knows what happened. Wait for the facts on the failure, if they ever are told).

Pedigree, it's about pedigree. Jap and Euro bikes have it. Chinese don't. If they want to move into the market they have to stop this gray importing business and offer 60 month warranties like Hyundai (Korean) tries to do. And maybe when China grow up economically and move on out of their industrial revolution and start thinking about customer loyalty then they may start thinking about building quality from their prior mistakes and shortcuts. But history does repeat, there was a time when we used to say jap crap but now if we can we sort out jap made items and steer clear of chinese made. Well that will change eventually but not while I ride a bike. chinese bikes SUCK :Punk:

Dude, do some research. It's a Korean company that started making motorcycles for SUZUKI over twenty years ago.
The pedigree argument does not wash.
Think and say what ever you like, but at least do some research.
(like the fact that their 650cc engine is more powerfull than Suzuki's own SV650, that the Hyosung engineers helped to design in the first place).

pedantics. pedantics. I write concisely. Let me rephrase for you.. korea/chinese fall under the same shadow, they cut corners. Hyundai manufactured the ford cortina mk3 and shock horror, they kept breaking, gosh I wonder why? Because they built them 30 years ago does that mean they build quality product now? Hyundai cars (obselete mitsubishi designed motors) keep breaking, it's the little things, mainly the plastics, because they cut corners, they add too much filler in their plastics...and their metals...oh yeah and their food products too!
So what if the motor has more power, they're not balanced, they don't last long, they may look dinky but they break down... consistently. Chinese/Korean products are crap. It's in their mentality, they have no design sense, no aesthetics, they knock off other peoples designs and then cut corners. Chinese designed bikes may look good because they knock off euro design but they're built crap. But they will mature and get better. They need to regulate their industry in order to get quality and consistency.

and those Suzuki GN 250's are a piece of manufacturing excellence. Oh, thats right they are chinese, as a large proportion of Triumphs models are Thai manufactured, and the only bikes truly made in the good ol USA are Honda Gold Wings.
Forget the localised image for each brand. They all have failings, and all have very good points. Comparing Korean principles in manufacturing, (or anything) with China is Apples to Oranges. I hear you loud n clear on Chinese gear, as their business principle is not really geared towards sustained customer growth, but Korean principles are more enlightened.
I'm not fazed either way really, but others who are obviously pushing a personal agenda against both TM and Hyosung are simply twisting the truth. That's just not honest or right. (not you, but the thread starter).

I hear what you say and normally I am an agreeable chappy but I have owned a Korean 2001 Hyundai Sonata 2.7 GLX which is the top of the line korean sedan for 16 months and since then I have made 5 warranty claims and I can only say thank christ I took out a 3rd party warranty package. Every problem listed in online pro/cons forums for that model has unfortunately happened to the car. It has cost over $4000 in claims. It is a lemon and I wouldn't wish one on a friend. The Samsung was considered the budget Sanyo and only due to huge marketing efforts people think it is an acceptable brand. Perhaps Korean product is a notch better than Chinese but not as good as dare I say, East German.
At the end of the day I would rather buy a 20 yr old japanese bike than a brand new chinese/korean bike. Even for the kids (XR100's)

Gay but reliable. No, the old ones were ghey but reliable. The new made-in-Thailand ones are dismal, lots of unnecessary irritating failures. Fortunately they are cheap enough to buy new with a much-needed warranty, but you'd best flog it off after that, and get used to it being in the shop often for repair.
They are not your typical jap reliable as an axe jobs.
