real nervouse that every time i go out something else will go wrong.when i brought d bike 1990 zzr 400, (which i know suits my needs and im comfortable on)i knew the fork seals needed replacing so booked it into the shop this week for that and a service. friday afternoon rode it to huntly pulled into driveway and dang got d grindin into 1st and sometimes clunkin wen changin gears. well hopefully new oil will fix that at service.nxt day rode it back to auckland ended up ridin with couple off bikes for a while on way back that was fun. l8ta that day pulled up to d lights then my bike cut out:dang.wouldint start so had to push to side of road.after a while it started so rode for lil while then started to cut out like it needed gas, then it stoped.hmmm how annoying looked at petrol, looked real low but could c petrol sitting at bottom plus no fuel light on. then a real friendly guy pulled up on his bike and gave me lift to get gas.came bac put it in and started up after a bit off choke and throttle. today noticed wasint runnin smoothly. like it would tug like it was loosin lil power sometimes.then got a pie at lunch break and it wouldint start at bakery.looks like im in 4 a new battery now.so now the forks r on hold as not enough money 4 all.so instead im gettin a service and a new battery or what ever is causin it not to wana start.geeez more money. but at end of day i know this is what gettin an older second hand bike is all about.just look forward to havin peace off mind that i can go for a ride with no big worries that nothing is gona go wrong.

Cripes that was hard to read. Learn to format dude!

Anyway, I was having similar problems with cutting out. Turned out the guy who owned the bike before me had put one of those in-line fuel filters in, but used radiator hose, so the rubber hose was being eaten by the gas, then clogging up the filter.

Tossed the filter (if it needed one, kawasaki would have put one there) & bought some FUEL HOSE & put in there instead.

Fixed it instantly. Worth having a look. :niceone:

I'd pick the carbs to, maybe shit in ya tank. Had the same problem with my 90 CBR250, and I've read forums almost exactly the same as yours a few times. Get ya carbs done wud be my bet. Take em out yourself, and while you're there you can see if any of your lines are blocked maybe, old cracking fuel lines acn be a bad thing. Anyway good luck, its part of the fun of old bikes, brings you closer together lol, and definitely gives you memories, even if not good ones

yup its 18yr old...and they are a pain in the ass...shit its a bike... well yup would start at tank ...pull off-flush-refill...have a got look around lower edges for rust..while tanks off..renew fuel lines and filter. remove carbs-clean or service..change spark plugs... put back together... with age comes care...however there is nothing stopping an older bike doing what it should do from when it was new...just needs care and attention for it to do it..and time doesn't always need to cost a lot of money...good luck and sound's like it just needs a bit of attention an you've a good bike

hell, i'd forget the problems with your bike and invest the money in some english and typing lessons first.

this is the second post of yours i stopped reading because it felt like i was reading an sms from a three year old rather than a forum thread asking for help and suggestions about a bike.........

i mean heck, i use caps and punctuation sweet FA but at least i give it an effort on a public forum to use full words and sentances.

as you where, rant over
