I'm a long time reader on this site, been riding bikes for a long time, & still love every km that goes under my Ducati's wheels....
Within this here section - I always see you guys in blue giving out fairly good advice, & mostly - not rising to some of the extremist baiting that goes on in regard to what you do for a job.

Keep up what you're doing here guys - its great to see your passion for bikes, & personally - I know its a case of 'rather you than me', in regard to wearing a blue uniform in today's society.........!!

Think its a common thing in every motorcycle forum across the world that the "law" gets a large amount of abuse and they all get stuck with the same old stereotype. But most of them are just normal people with a different type of job and 99% of them are good decent people. So big respect to any of them that help out and share ALL our passion of bikes:2thumbsup

One of the best things myself and a couple of pals did in those distant teenage times of BSA's and CB500's, was to take a Police Motorbike course. Two of them 'escorted' lead and tail through town and country. They pushed riding assertively and pride of road craft. saved my bacon no end of times since.

It was also very impressive from the cagers POV. They don't half give you some space when you have blue flashing lights front and rear.

For what its worth - I think having a business like that is a good idea, and I actually owned a large event catering business (now sold) as a sidline business (fingers in pies etc) a while back.

There are plenty of small business out there that run well, provide a good service, and provide a great income for people. I'm not actually teasing Steve for driving a Mr Whippy van - what is funny is that this is the binary opposite to the online persona (you know the monster raving loony) that he so often portrays. And thats why he cops a little flack.

I only had one run in with a cop, and it ended up that the case was laughed out of court. He was a speed gestapo . In saying that i met more nice cops in the past. Generally, you are straight up with them and you earn their respect. Works both ways. Worse are the once who think they are gods gift to civilization and think they can single handedly change the world. They should pull the night stick out of their arse and realize that world is not such a bad place.:angry2:

must be fairly lucrative.the local mr.kool,has two vans that his wife and him drive.
they own 3 pretty awesome hod rods,and i think he's got a bike too :)

Let's face it, there's good n bad everywhere and the cops have a tough job BUT the ones that get my respect are those that come to work with their brains engaged and use their common sense rather than just being a "by the book" jobsworth! I think there's a lot of cops out there that will let you off with a warning if you aren't endangering other people and they can see your reason for speeding(within reason - dont spose 250kph will get off with a warning LOL!), for example, is honest. I got pulled a while back on the motorway heading to a doctors appt and runnin late. When the motorway opened up clear for as far as i could see I gunned it to make up some time. Just happened there was a plain cop car behind me at that moment - doh! He had me at 125kph, I gave him the story, showed him the appt letter and he let me go with a warning as he said he had been behind me for a while as I drove at totally normal speed and I hadn't done anythin mad and could see i only gunned it when obviously safe to do so. I told him straight up I thought that was pretty cool considerin I was done at 125kph and I really appreciated he had used his common sense in this instance!

Got pulled over for speeding for the first time in 21 years of driving.Mr Plod asked me to be honest and I was.I explained I had just upgraded to a more powerful bike and was still coming to grips with it's vastly superior acceleration and while wanting to ensure I was clear of the cages at the traffic light derby had temporily exceeded the speed limit(was in the process of slowing down again).He let me off with a warning ,which was damn decent of him.Since then have been keeping a better eye on my speed as I get more aquainted with my new bike.

well i reckon we should all leave our rego numbers here just so they know we is nice guys and luv em all. mine is 0410oe . i mean they are all so honest and dont like writing tickets even though they have these quoters to fill. not their fault its their bosses who kick ass. most cops just never ever speed in their private vehicles at all . just wonder why some of them have radar detectors in their private vehicles .( puzzled ..) vfr rider ..

i think when it comes to the arguement do the crime do the time you kinda have to ask yourself.... in your line of work (whatever you the reader do) if you took the most important case, did the most unimportant part or whatever first your boss would be pretty pissed. now im not saying that we should all speed scott free, no way, but seriously, there are gangs, drug dealers, abuse, burgs taking place yet most of the police appear on our roads.

as for the crap on tv a year ago screaming no quotas no quotas, if we can't believe and have trust in the person responible for you lot how can we trust you?

although for those of you who do actually perform real work duties thank you and my thoughts are with you every time you put yourself in harms way for another kiwi. for those units on the road with mag wheels personalised plates and spoilers who hide behind corners to get me at 106KPH on the motorway, know that if i see you with a flat i will only stop to laugh at you.
