Gonna take the Striple to the Triumph trackday in January - yeeha. Arranged cover with my insurer - Kiwibike (they told me at the outset that my policy included trackday cover).

Now maybe I should have enquired about the details at the time cause when the email came back approved with an excess of $2000 I nearly feel off my seat.

Not being a previous trackday goer what's the deal - is this about standard or pricey? Do those of you with cheaper excess just negotiate with your insurer/shop around/gain incrementally cheaper excess over time if incident free? What?

2k excess is pretty standard for a trackday (the 2k is just for the trackday, your everyday excess should be lower)

2k is cheap considering the state i have seen some bikes leave the track in.

If its a 'practice session' not a 'trackday' you will find the excess considerably reduced. But you need to arrange this with them ...

But seriously...why are you surprised?

Not surprised now - my initial response was f$%k'n ouch.

Just trying to gauge it for track related activity. Nah excess is $500 (Seems like once again Kiwibike have delivered the goods - Cheers Dave)

yes gota agree there....nothing worse than watching a bike pick its self up and head over heels in a somersault..... sliding is repairable ... but she dugs in and vaults..... 2k cheap...

So from what I see, the excess is only high for trackdays?

Been meaning to call Kiwi as I have my 3 bikes with Classic and apparantley they dont cover TDs.

The excess used to be lower for trackdays (ie, same as road), and those with older policies (ie, me, and others ;)) probably have the older excess.

Then you had guys that managed to write bikes off in successive weekends... and up went the excess for trackdays.

Trackdays are normally covered on the basis you tell Dave/Donna, and they confirm it for you.

Just emailed Dave @ Kiwi with all my bikes details and trackdays etc, see what he can do.
And he can do it ok, he replied.

Have also emailed classic Cover as a courtesy since I am with them to see what their response is to TD cover.
