Hey ya'll
I have a 93 GSX400F.. & one of the front brake discs has quite a lot of movement in it now.. (they are floating discs).. does anyone know if I can get these repaired.. so it won't rattle round no more please??? (I'm sooo blonde I don't even know what the round bits that I'm waffling on about, are called...) (flanges...?)
I rang to inquire how much new discs were worth.. & budget (not Suzuki) were $385 EACH!!!!!!!!! :gob:
Or if ya know of any wreckers who might have some in good nic to fit..
Any help would be much appreciated! :2thumbsup

They're called rivets. And how bad is it? There's meant to be some detectable play - that's what they're for. It's worse if they get gummed up and no longer float.

If ya hold the disc & rattle it, you can see the rivets actually moving around in the holes they sit in... I take it that, that is tooo much movement..? :pinch:
Thanks for your replies guys!

This sort of thing (rattly - loose rotor) is not necessarily a problem. Have you had a brake expert take a look?

Might be worth checking the disc for minimum thickness. If they are under (or over but close) then you really should replace the discs. Sorry I don't have a micrometer, but any bike shop should have one.
If it comes to replacement, google is your friend: very useful find (http://shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?k=HL-237810) for shopping at wreckers in NZ... but you would need to check the specs 'cos the website could be wrong, or your ex-japan bike could be unique.
