My HJC helmet has been due for replacement for
sometime now. It had numerous stone chips from
following sporties with super stickies throwing
tarmac at me, had been dropped accidentally off the
bike several times and was looking decidedly worse
for wear.
So went out and got another helmet while they were
on discount. Tried a Shoei XR1000 and a couple of
others but had such a good run with the HJC and found
it great for cutting the wind on a naked, that I ended
up buying the latest version that has superceded the
one I already had.
It's an HJC FS-10 in black with silver and grey
graphics, has extra venting outlets at the back
but what clinched it for me is the built in, internal
sun visor that comes out of a recess in the helmet
top and slides down under the main visor.
This means it won't get scratched or covered in bugs
and has a quick release in case you need to see
in a shady patch or the weather goes nasty on you.
I like it. Looks great, finish is tops and the
sun visor works a treat. It does have a snap lock
strap system which I've always been a bit "iffy"
on but they must have perfected these mechanisms by
now.
It is after all one of the worlds number one top
selling helmets.
It's quiet at speed, cuts through the air nicely,
has plenty of padding where needed and room for
over the ear equipment and more importantly for me
a nice place under the edge to place my LED hard
receiver unit for my detector. It is out of sight,
out of the weather and can be accessed to turn on
and off when finished with it.
Ventilation feels good but of course, winter will
tell. It does come with a chin curtain that can be
attached or removed as required and a full nose
guard.
Mr Motorcycles was doing a promo on their store
resizing and were doing discounts so I managed
to grab one for $425.00.
Good value for money and a nice helmet :)
