A curse be upon all those who reseal driveways!!!!

It finally happened. After eight months and 8500km, I dropped the bloody thing.....:crybaby:
Took a longish ride this morning - out SH31 to Kawhia (almost) and then round the harbour to Waitomo....fantastical trip that!! :first:
By the time I reached Waitomo my bum was stone dead (the SVS is no armchair) and I needed a coffee and a pee.........I found the Long Black Cafe, but missed the first drive so went along to the next one. Had to do a U-turn to get in there......and yes, they had resealed the driveway and it was knee deep in fine gravel and sloped away from my turn. As I turned, the front wheel decided to have a little diversion to the left all by itself.....and the slow speed low side occurred at all of 2 miles per hour.....damn!
To make it worse, I was stuck under the bike by the right leg, and with the angle and all I couldn't lift the damn thing off. Fortunately a very nice young lady saw me stuck there and came to the rescue ("Damsel Rescues Knight in Distress" cried the headlines.....). I got the foot out and with the charming young lady's help, (yes you pervs, she was HOT) got the bike right way up again. Some scratching to the muffler and a couple of minor marks on the fairing. Rubber mounted blinker did its thing and saved any damage. Mirror folded away nicely. ATC2K survived without trouble even though it was mounted on extreme end of R handlebar...No damage to self thanks to Quasi's jacket and Jet's trousers, apart from minor bruise on R ankle where it hit the ground. Pride however, is totally shattered and may not pull through, according to the medics.....
After the coffee etc I got back on the horse and continued the trip with no damage to confidence I might add. Just an additional suspicion of bloody little stones on the road.....:ar15:
Diverted through Otewa Road and a myriad of wonderful minor roads to get back to Hammerstown after four and a half hours. Bum is slowly recovering.....:done:

Sorry to hear about the fall but sounds like you got away light enough with just the few scrapes on the bike and the bruised ankle, some bad injuries do happen with the slow speed falls.
One of the downsides of bikes if there affection of falling over at the most awkward times but all part of it really:laugh:

There's always an audience at the wrong time. Slofox, glad you're mostly in one piece - the laws of physics are against us, gravity seems to pull the bike down at the worst time. Bike and stuff are replaceable, people aren't, especially the good un's.

Ahh the classic brickbat and bouquet sobriquet that the biker gods like to bestow every now and then :pinch: Poos and wees about the bike having a little lie down to rest ... but big ups for the riding out and about!

And at least you have more interesting stories to tell when you are on your rocking chair on the porch going ".... dems was the days..."

Yeah - well most of the audience just sat on their fat arses and watched as I tried to get out from under......bastards!

Actually the bike IS my rocking chair....coughcough

Unfortunately not - she scarpered off to drive her bus.....

Unfortunately (or fortunately...) Warr, the card was full and the camera had switched off.....(whew)...How are you healing anyway Warr? Been wondering how you are doing.....

I might add that eight hours later I can tell I used a few forgotten muscles in a vain attempt to stop the fall....(squeeeeakkk)

Aw dude, that sux! could have been a hell of allot worse tho, and you got helped out by a hot chick.

Those nice BIG headlights would be a prick to replace, a little faster and you might have had to...

Gravel = :angry2: hate that.

It's all part of the learning curve I suppose but it sucks all the same. Glad to hear that the damage to body and bike was minimal.

Cheers

Hey Slofox, glad all is well. I hate it when something like that happens and all people can do it sit and watch. Really makes you want to say something. Bloddy good of the chick to stop. And hopefully with her being easy on the eye made it feel better :)

I bet in some ways that made it worse!

But good to hear you are ok Slo. Hopefully no long term damage to you and not too expensive damage to the bike.

Get it repaired asap, cos it will piss you right off everytime you see it!

Don't beat up on yourself either - it's far too easily done and if not for the grace of God we've all been/will be in this situ one day!

no..no..sign it first...gravel tough...surpising just how much damaged is caused via a slow or stopped fall...
