Or do car only drivers seem to see overtaking every bike they see as a challenge? Example (true one), I'm going along the road at 110 in my car one day...I can get rows of cars that were just driving the same speeds behind me, just sit behind me even though there is about 3km of passing opportunity. Next day, riding my bike doing the same thing and all of them decide to floor their shitty cars and make dangerously close to oncoming traffic passes. Another thing. If I'm in the car with someone else they will happily follow a sportscar doing 100ks but the moment they follow a big rig doing at least 110, maybe 120 they decide its too slow and go hell for leather to try and overtake it...What the hell is with that?
P.s This is not a call for the "waaambulance" tags, I'm not complaining. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed

Not really I cant recall getting pased by to many cars, On top of that most cars pull to the left to let me though even if I'm only going a few K's faster.
The truck one can be for good reason if said car driver knows of a few hills a head.

I think it's cos of a lack of vision. If you can't see in front of the vehicle in front, the perception is it's not as "safe"

I don't like following anything I can't see past. It sorta started on the bike, but now I find even in the car I don't like following trucks, buses, large SUVs, etc. However, at least in the car I can sit behind them, but on the bike I pass as soon as possible.

I agree with this because I tend to pass out larger vehicles or just things that block my vision of whats infront of me. And its not that I do be following too close its just I like to see well ahead of me

Lol its funny 'cause these ricers even in $40,000 GT-R skylines would have a hard time beating an old $3000 600 around corners or on a strait :) Just gives me the shits they pass in places that mean you have to brake and let them in just to avoid a pileup

I have a similar experience in my work ute. People will do crazy shit to overtake me and then sometimes go slower than I was in the first place!

Nah - most car drivers thing we are crazy.

Yesterday while out for a spin on the bike I was tooling along at a speed some would frown upon - the vehicle way in front obviously noticed how quickly my headlight was increasing in size in his rear view mirror and slowly drifted to the left, allowing me a clear run at a nice sweeper with 100% vision as I passed.

It occurred to me today, while mowing the lawns with the red mower, that I must have appeared to be an utter loon to the car occupants (unless they were riders) fanging along like a ground hugging fighter jet  cranking it into a corner at warp factor 7 (too chicken to do factor 9).

Another thing i noticed when comeing back from the straship run today was that whenever i stopped at traffic lights (at the front) , if there was a double lane and a car was next to me it seems like its their mission to try and go faster than me... Also i have had about 3 people this week rev like crazy trying to race me (This is with my loser plate on) at the lights. All i do is rev back at them then when the lights change i go at the speed limit and give them a clap to show how cool they are, anyways as we all know we could own them while still in 1st gear. This is mainly refering to the kids that drive those shitty cheap cars with big bore exhausts and a pod filter to make it go twice as fast .

Do you ride with the suit in your avatar? That's why :)
And on a side note I think we give car drivers a bit much criticsm at times. Been driving the car a hell of a lot more than normal lately and already this weekend a guy on a gsx-r has came around the corner on the white line just about forcing me to go off the road (I could hear my tire leaving the tar) and a guy on a harley just about clipped my side while splitting. I saw him miles away passing so I thought I would be nice and veer left so he can split nice and safely when he comes. Didn't even hear him come up (obviously fast) until he was at my door. Just goes to show how easy it is (even with your light on) to go un noticed if you are speeding. Yet if I had the chance to hear his bike coming I would have given him more room. This was all at about 90 btw... Blarty harleyys

Funny story... freind rode his bike dressed as a clown (off to a party) and no one even looked at him funny, then actually gave us room and let us pass. Even passed 2 cop cars lol w.t.f just earlier that day we were riding together suited up in normal bike gear and we got some pretty evil looks. Whats wrong with people. Maybe i should try the bunny suit?

I had similar with a bunch of cruisers on my way back from Tauranga today, I was going down the Matamata side of the Kaimais & they were definitely crossing into my lane (as they were coming up the hill) while I was going around the outside of a people mover in the slow vehicle bay. I had horrid visions of them going up and over the car bonnet, since I had no way to pull left.

I see what ya talking about wbks.
I've seen some faily crazy manoeuvres out there whether I'm on the bike or in the car.
What I find a good laugh is those that overtake and then turn off at the next intersection 200m up the road.

I find if you are coming up behind cars on ur bike the cars almost always tend to go left, sometimes so fast as they're over the white line!

Its a completely different story when they are pulling out at an intersection you are coming up to.

I havent had any heroes try and overtake me yet, but when i had my old souped up car i never tried to race a bike (save myself the embarassment hehe)

And yes im sure most people who drive cage think we're all nuts... We are though, arent we? :Pokey:
