Anybody out there no any easy cheap mods to make a 2008 R1 go faster (Have more power). The catch is it cant void the warranty crap.

they already have tons of power, what you want is able to use all the power it already has, so in turn suspension is your first port of call, to help bike handle and get that all that power down.

Change the gearing, down one at the front, or up a couple at the back

change the exhaust and change sprockets. Go minus 1 on front sprocket and see how that is. Cost about $50. Then you will have better pick up. then if that not enough pickup go plus 2 on rear sprocket. (Wheelie central)
Or get a power commander.

Lose weight (rider's or the bike's). Every kilogram lost is worth some power gained.

This is the best answer here.
Not only that but it also translates to better turning and better braking which are just as worthwhile...
On a side note: why the fuck would you want more power out of an R1?? Spend your money on shit hot tyres and learn how try use SOME of that immense power I say.
The best performance mod for a bike has to be rider weight loss....

just did some calculations
260kg r1 including 80kg rider with 150hp = 1.74 ratio....
257.5 kg r1 uncluding 77.5kg rider with 150hp = 1.7 ratio...
260kg r1 including 80kg rider with 153hp= 1.7 ratio...
so lose just 5kg of weight over you and the bike... gain 3hp.... and 5kg advantage in braking and turning.... Unless you are a squid of course...

buy a honduh and put ohlins on it..,, then a power commander, get it bored out then tuned.
put yoshi cams, ports and heads into it whilst getting tuned.
Alternatively buy a play station III
and in all honesty, suspension and bike setup are the best mods ... by far.

Bugger off, Boomer! Anyone knows you need to put 10,000 watt HIDs in it and leave them permanently wired on high beam

The to guys riding these bikes are only 70kg at the most.
Im looking at buying one, the question is more for my 2 mates that have brought them and want more power. Both on 2008 R1s.
I have riden with these 2 nutters i think most people would have trouble keeping up.........
Currently reserching turbo kit for them..........

i have a mate who has an 08 r1, he has removed the cat's, fitted a yoshi exhuast, power comander and a k&n air filter. thing thing makes some serious power, but unless your riding it on straight road's or you can ride like andrew stroud, most the extra hp is going to waste. even a standard one has more power than 99% of people could use to the max

It is true but its nice to know its there when needed. Like if you want to make a guy in his 1000hp skyline look slow :jerry: Plus i live by the quote "Here for a fun time not a long time" and you can never have enough hp:laugh:

Your mates must be exceptional riders to need more power from an R1

There's a flaw in that logic. You can only put so much power down before it wheelies... Otherwise, you must be part of the straight top speed brigade... In which case, go get a ZX14 and get it done with...

(puts hand up) ew I know, I know.... swap it for a 98 version.. these guys are right though, learn to ride faster round corners or purchase a drag bike if all ya want is to go faster in a straight line.

Maybe they just want the bling of having a modded bike. I'd like a fully HRC MC21 even though I'd never ride it to its potential...

Thats not really for these guys aye id compare them to ghost rider. We are working on a helmet cam at the moment i maybe able to get a few vids for you. These guys cruise at 200+ every where, have been chased many times. Currntly making manifold for turbo to see how that gose any way.
So i ask how to make a R1 go faster and im told to:
Lose weight (70kg rider)
Buy better tyres (currently on pilots)
Thanks to the guys that did help

I enjoyed my old R1  Did 10,000km in the first 2 weeks.
I took the cats out, fitted an after market shock, -1 on the front, 55 profile rear, replaced the mirrors with barend... made it a better (handling and looking) bike, not alot faster.
Trackdays perhaps? (to get the "MUST GO FASTERRRRR GRRRR" bug out)
