Update on the plan for boxing day. Im thinking about arriving at the duck pond at 6am, waiting around then leaving at 630am, leaving plenty of time to stop for second breakfast, and be in the wangas for the first race. I know this might be a bit early for some, but fuk it i want to make the most of the day, and take the more scenic route.
Wanting to go the long way through the Waiarapa's, out to fielding, then across to Wanganui. Take some scenic roads rather than the long boring straights littered with cops l:Police:l . Although this is weather dependant, if weather is shit then im taking the shortest and fastest way there, or taking a cage (fuking hope not tho, jezz, who would take a cage to a bike event lol).
Any opinions on the more interesting start of the morning (the fun roads :2thumbsup )??? Too far :oi-grr: ??? or not enough lol :headbang: .

ahhhh I wish, but no. Dangerous is racing at Taupo on the following 2 days but we thought we'd pop into wangas on the way up and get excited by watching a few races.
I'm having a temporary leave of absence from racing, cos I cant do my leathers up anymore! But I will return... :Punk:

Where's the duck pond?
Hi Lewis,
Take the bridge off the Hutt motorway that goes to Avalon (Kennedy-Good I think it's called). A short distance over the bridge you'll see the duck pond on the left with a car park.
Karen and I are thinking of driving up (she hasn't got any gear yet), so might see you at Wanganui - we can cheer on Waughey.

When you hit Wanganui (head over the river), ya get to a roundabout, head right, you'll be there, plenty of parking for bikes, and entry to the track.
This corner of the track (Robert Holden Corner) is a good starting place. Bikes coming out of the S's to a right hander. You can circle the track at your lesure, the gates across the track are generally opened between races....
The main straight is also a good spot, back straight too, hell the whole track is awesome......
Having to miss this meeting due to work. Only missed 3 meetings in the last 27 years I've attended this awesome day.....:weep:

funny as went through feilding & about 30+ bikes waiting at corner for road to clear, tagged on the back but did not take long for the fast ones to wend their way through .. a few dodgy overtaking maneuvers :nono: but there would have been half a dozen bikes who were happy to pootle behind.
thought they would turn off at marton & head to wangas but like the pied piper they followed us through Turakina Valley  dunno if that was in their plans or not
anyhow awesome road, awesome company & to top it off fantastic day :)

yeah, you are partly right,Andrew Stroud did a couple of very slow & quiet demo laps on the Britten,Aaron slight also did a few demo laps,on a new CBR1000,did some cool wheelies etc(was not at the same time as the Britten)
Earl Bamber did a few laps in a Toyota racing series car, painted to look like the A1 car, they could not get approval from the car officials for the A1 car to drive around Wanganui, even for demo laps

If you guys that are coming to the races want bike security for the day.The Wanganui Triumph Owners have a secure lock up where you can leave your bike, helmets, and jackets.Cost is $10.00.We are in the Framlands carpark as well as pump and valve carpark.Just come off the main bridge into Wanganui go right around the round about and you cant miss it.
This was a bloomin excellent facility. Cheap parking, near track, secure, took details & contact #, provided sacks for clothing & helmet, very helpful 'helpers' - couldn't do enough to keep the punters moving through at a steady pace.
Highly recommended if you're going next year...:niceone::niceone:
