91 gixxer tacho

hi all
i have recently rebuilt my 91 gixxer and cant for the life of me seem to get my tacho working, frustrating coz my speedo isnt working due to a worn cable ( no needed) but i like to ride via the revs...lol
so cant someone that is in the know , please let me know how

u haven't given enuff info for a sensible reply. everything plugs in so shouldn't b a problem but basically gets its signal from the cdi via the coils. if ur neutral and oil lights don't work either, look for dodgy conection around headstock. have u got a wiring diagram?
u can buy inner speedo cables pretty cheaply (like $30) locally.
