I didnt see another thread (maybe im blind) relating to the invariably occuring close calls and near misses that we all face as 2wheel jockeys..

In around 8 years of riding I have fallen off on the road several times and come close being erased by some careless and unthinking tintop drivers.

The latest such incident (outside of a hospital of all places) involved me passing the slow moving traffic and having a car pull into the lane and swing a few feet wider than the other cars, causing me (wrong place wrong time) to bounce off the front passenger quarter panel and mount the gutter to stop on the foot path, with some scared looking pedestrians looking on haha.

Damage to me - right handle bar rotated around on the fork, bruise on little finger..
Damage to car - missing passenger mirror, demo'd quarter panel, all light fittings blown off on that corner, bumper mounts broken off, some fluid reservoir ripped off and smashed, and a very dismayed and apologetic husband and wife..

for once the score tallies Bike 1 - Car 0:niceone:

So you were passing on the left in a single lane?

How was that anyone's fault but your own?

Let's see if I've got this right.

You were filtering between the kerb and the line of slow moving traffic. One of those slow moving cars slows or stops to allow another car to turn right from a side street and join that line of traffic. You appear from an illegal position that the driver wouldn't have been able to see you in and collide with their car.

And you then come on here blaming the actions of the car driver?

I hope you exchanged details. Their insurance company could have a ball with you.

im sorry if there is confusion here.. just to clarify im not blaming the dude, at all, i said already i was in the wrong place at the wrong time, altho he was giving it noise coming out of the street on the right and there was alot of horns going off, mine not being one off them..

sorry if that set off some rant sensors..

i thought with the cars moving like snails n all id be relatively safe, guess not..
