I am attending the BMWOR Annual Rally this year on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th of January. I have to be back at work by the 15th (are you following my logic?).
After the rally I want to head south and explore the Wairarapa. I don’t really have a plan. I am just going to explore and make it up as I go. I intend to see as many beaches as I can and also Lake Ferry plus Cape Palliser Light House.
I know there are a lot of gravel roads in this area. Basically I am going exploring.
I will be staying at Backpackers and free camping unless the weather is poxy to the extreme!!
Suggestions of must do and must see places most welcome. Also If anyone is keen (foolish enough) to want to join me for a day or two feel free to drop me a line or pm me.
Cheers
Colin
p.s thanks to the help of Gerard I now have a reliable bike to do this with :2thumbsup

I might be keen. I've got a month off, and know most of the Southern Hawkes Bay and Northern Wairarapa area. Will see what we're up to closer to the time.

Here is the plan so far, there is no plan  I have a few other guys interested in coming along. What I have suggested is that you make up a list of things you want to see and do. At the end of each day we plan the next one and then halfway through change it because we can :jerry: If you are looking for a structured well organised and led ride then this ones not for you :bleh:
For myself I want to see Castle Point, Lake Ferry, the boats and the bulldozers :niceone: and Cape Palliser. Everything else is a bonus :niceone:
I travelled a few of the gravel roads down there with Zukin and totally enjoyed them. Length of the ride (time and distance) is not fixed other than I have to be back at work on the 12th (bugger thought it was the 15th). So its seven days max for me. However if some mythological being can create everything in six days then have a day off I should be able to get done most of what I want to do

Sounds like a good plan to me, take a good map & hug the coast on the backroads as much as possible & you can't go far wrong down there.
