Waaaaaaay back in about 1982 (?) I went through this august institution in order to get my full licence faster. On the way I learned a whole lot of useful stuff about riding, as well as getting a good growling on my first night for riding between the lanes......aaaanyway, a friend of mine is coming up to auckland soon, and is scared of riding in auckland traffic, and it occured to me that it would be good for her to attend a good riding school. So...is there a good riding school in auckland, preferably on the shore?
And is anyone here a fellow graduate (and I mean fellow in the non-gender specific way, there was a lovely blonde lass on my course) of the Matchless School, or one of the instructors? Be cool to catch up again.

Matchless M/c was discontinued in 1983 when the Defensive Driving Council was discontinued - they were the guiding body for MAtchless.
Matchless became RideSafe Motorcycle Education Co and continues today
although most of the instructors have moved on, I have continued
although running mostly beginner courses now for new riders, I still do other sorts of training to suit. I also do Basic Skill Tests.

My advice is to meet them somewhere and guide them in. I came into Auckland in the late afternoon on Dec 31 04 and it was pissing down. Bloody scary on the motoway in the dry let alone the wet.
Tip for rideing in Auckland. Don't make sudden lane changes. That applies to anywhere but with the double lane traffic Aucker land especially.
