Wow, a Government taking the advice of its officials. Another John Key innovation takes us back to the way things ought to be...

Yeah those same people will soon no doubt (in another equally "innovative" and "prudent move") be referred to as excess bureaucracy.

Don't confuse expert officials with the hordes of spin-doctors the last lot hired...anyone with "communications" in their job title ought to be polishing up their CV I reckon...

...John Key who said the Government was becoming the equivalent of a slum landlord and renovating existing state houses would do more to stimulate the building sector and wider economy than building new ones..
That is, and has been a continual, ongoing process. There have been massive amounts of upgrades to houses, throughout the Auckland city area, at least.

You could just about get rid of state housing imo.

If your working, pay open market rates.
Most of the invalids/sickness benefits should really be back in Lake Alice.
And all the dole bludgers can be chucked in labour camps, let em live in tents or shitty barracks and work for their money.
That pretty much leaves only war vets, pensioers, and mums on the DPB who should get state housing.. So lets slash the numbers of state houses!

I just love how the opposition can slam the new government, and say, hey, they should be building new houses!!!!!!

errr... they were in for 9 years... what did THEY do

come to think of it... why didn't the then opposition nail them?
