View Full Version : No bike = UNBELIEVABLY grumpy

I would just like to apologise to everyone I may have grumbled at in the last few days, and everyone I'm likely to snap at in the near future. I would especially like to apologise to the person I have a red rep to, even they only wrote something averagely offensive. And to everyone whose threads I have decorated with the fiollowing 'smilies':
:Oi: :nono: :Pokey: :argue: :oi-grr: :argh: :angry2: :bash: :spanking:

As someone who is generally fairly even-tempered, I can't believe how grumpy it has made me to have my bike off the road for the last couple of weeks. I'm genuinely surprised what a negative effect it's had on my attitude. I mean, what's that about? It's only a mode of transport, isn't it?!

And it's not even like someone stole it or crashed into it. It was just a mechanical failure that was nobody's fault, and my lovely mechanics are doing their best to fix it.

So anyway I'm just going to carry on being grumpy until I get it back. So WATCH OUT if you pass me on the street. I'll probably stick out my foot and trip you up. Especially if the sun's shining and you're wearing bike gear. <_<

Oh, and if you want to do something to help, please find me a cheap GN250 engine that I can transplant into my Volty.

Thanks. :bash:

No.
If it was, there'd be no need for a site like this.

I feel neglected - you didn't red rep me, you mean cow. :crybaby:

Probably beat you up and steal your bike.

Not sure you could handle the extra 30hp over your GN :)

Oh yeah?! Come over here and say that! :bash:

Anyway it's not a GN, it's a Volty. There's a world of difference.

If you don't count the Lead 125 (which I think isn't a bike, but a sort of weird amalgamation of scrap metal, plastic and bad mojo), the crappest bike I've ridden in the last 15 years is a.....

(wait for it....)

...Volty.

(Is that provocation enough?) :Pokey:

A volty sounds like some kind of ghey scooter so I'm gona retract my earlyer statement and say you cant handle an extra 40hp + 6 gears...

vifferman, wbks, Maha you're all cruisin' for a bruisin'. When my Volty is fixed up even better than new (if that's possible because she was perfect the way she was ) I'm going to hunt you all down and give you all a good slapping. :girlfight:

No, wait... when I get her back I will be happy again and I'll be too busy riding to hunt you down. :pinch:

Klingon, this in an appalling and quite unacceptable state of affairs. Men have killeed for enduring less stress than a man deprived of his horse.

And so, this coming Sunday 14th, because I find myself roped into doing beach-things with a bunch of folk, I extend the following offer.

Present yourself at my home on the morning of Sunday, take possession of my lovely Yami Thundercat (with the flash new Scorpion exhaust which is just as hot as my pants and sounds too good to be true) for the day and travel to wherever your heart and mind takes you.

A man must not be deprived of his riding. :--))

Call me on 0274449847 if you're keen.

Cheers
David.

:gob: Wow! What a kind offer!

I actually won't take you up on this because
a) I'm doing a working-bee in my friend's garden all day Sunday and
b) I would be absolutely terrified of damaging your bike in some way.

Oh and by the way...

c) I'm not a man

But anyway your offer has put a smile on my face so I might stop being grumpy for five minutes or so. Thanks! :D

Define cheap:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Classic-vintage/auction-191525252.htm
Maybe even http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Classic-vintage/auction-191049764.htm

Upgrade options are a bit thin on the ground:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Cruiser/auction-192573213.htm (Might be too low for you, or you might think it's revolting... )
Maybe http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-192208082.htm but it's a bit old.
Aside from that I could only find an NV400 or two. And a zillion scooters, pit bikes and dirt bikes...

Hey it's a collectible Volty. Even if it can't get fixed soon it is legal to tow it. Maybe you know someone, a friend, with a grunty bike or scooter that could do this for you. Get the rope and gear up.

Seriously I hope it's going soon. A bummer summer without a bike.

Because you suffer motorcycle deprivation, just like us blokes, I hereby confer upon you the status of 'Honorary Bloke'.

You don't need to worry about damage. Darn bikes are made to be ridden, not wrapped in cotton-wool.

I can feel your pain with not having a bike because I sold mine a few weeks ago and its killing me not to be able to ride it, work on it, clean it :bye: its just not nice and not right for someone to be without their bike for too long:crybaby:

However, sad to say, Colleen from AMCC informed me of a race venue tomorrow, so the beach thing will have to wait. After all, a race day is more important than sex.....

At my age, believe me, never a truer word was stated.:--((

Okay, I woke up this morning, the Starship toy run is this morning, go into the garage to get the Gixer out... And it's still in the shop getting the fairing repair done.

I've been swearing all morning, the dog is looking at me funny, and I'm lost for ideas about what to do instead... Might fix the fuel valve on the CBX instead.

If your engine is rooted completely maybe these guys can help? They are wrecking a few suzuki 250s and the engine could be good for your volty...

They are based in takapuna

Thanks Howsie, but unfortunately they don't have an engine :( and nor do Action across the road. Actually I'm a bit miffed at Atomic because on their website they say they have a Volty they're wrecking, but they don't. The last Volty they had was a couple of years ago, and as far as I can tell they have nothing left. I think that's false advertising but they bluntly refuse to remove it. So yeah, that really didn't help with my grumpiness and this is for them -->
