1. Finding work wasnt as easy as I thought
2. I miss normal people with manners
3. It's so f***** hot here
4. I sat my R E Motorcycle Learners yesterday, passed but cannot be issued it because I havent had my Oz Car license for a year. So its a whole year without riding. I wanna cry.

Alternatively, I presume they have a method by which you can apply for an exemption like we do here in Godsown?

Maaaattteeee,
Been there, done that, know how you feel.
I've been in NZ 10 years since emigrating from London. Left behind a big family, heaps of mates and my football team. Had a shit time at first, crap jobs, no luck, nowhere decent to live etc etc. I was homesick as f**k..
Then, after 3 years, it all turned around, I'm as happy as a poofter at a "Show Me Your Bum" competition.
Do as Sarge says, stave off the homesickness by surrounding yourself with familiar stuff and hook into as much piss as you possibly can.
We' re all here with you matey

Are you there "permanently" or for a finite period with a plan to return to NZ?
The suggestions from Sarge sound good to me - sounds, smells and tastes from home e.g. L & P, pineapple lumps (sent some of those to my mum for her birthday when she was over in Pommy land a few years back) etc.
But, don't forget the balance like Grahameeboy said. You obviously went for a reason and if you cling to "home" too much you may miss opportunities to find the good things where you are.
p.s. I thought there were so many Kiwis over in Oz that you'd probably think you were just in another part of Aotearoa anyway
All the best!
MotoGirl
14th December 2008, 12:42
I'm picking that there are certain things about NZ that you miss?
I understand there are shops that sell kiwi items, such as L&P, so you may not need to have someone send them over.
Try not to dwell on what you miss, because like other people have said, it may prevent you from seeing the potential of the place you're in now. There was obviously a reason you left New Zealand and thinking about "home" could easily convince you to come back prematurely.
Maybe when you're feeling a bit homesick you could go and see one of Australia's sights? Or maybe you could do something that reflects the reason you moved there?

Know how you feel,a mate in Hawera has to take over to Brissy vita lime drink for his brother as they can't get it in Aus.Usually takes a crate lol.
Most nz stations are online but only one I can think of worth it The Rock.
Doesn't matter where you move to it takes time to get to know places, jobs, new mates etc,at least in NZ we have this thing called kb which helps with likeminded people and helps.
Shift back to home as a last resort,my auntie was similar when they left NZ day after they married, she returned 30yrs later.

I'm still homesick. I looked on this thread for advice.
Usually when I tell Kiwis that I'm homesick I get told to
a/ Fuck off back to blighty.
b/ Get over it.
c/ Harden the fuck up.
I haven't found that advice helpful or polite I must say.
I've just got through a hellish year where I considered giving up life altogether for a while - then I thought of the missus and littlies that depend upon me, gave up working in media and (although I'm much poorer) I have actually learned how to smile again.:)
I left home in 1999 and have only been back a handful of times. Last time was 2004. I can't afford to return for the forseeable future.
I am homesick and I can't get a hold of:
Tennent's 70/- Ale
Square Sausage
Decent Haggis
Potato Scones
Real Hot Dog Sausages (I know they're not quinticentially Scottish but by Christ I miss the taste of Westlers with ketchup and mustard!) painting a sausage brown does not a frankfurter make New Zealand!

But you are from Glasgow. And down souf where you are there must be horses, and KBers , right?
So surely you could just drink down a gallon or so of horse piss, and get a helpful KBer to bash you round the head with a length of gas pipe for an hour or so, culminating in the horse crapping on you.
That should be close enough to a good night out in Glasgow to cure homesickness (I guess for the real Glasgow finishing touch you'll have to find an obliging Honda rider)
See, we can be both polite and helpful.

and let me tell you something young lady ..
heres the deal ( you guys listen too..)
premature ejaculation is a myth perpetrated by the drug companies.. man is supposed to spread his seed and does that quite effectively..
women however .. do NOT need to reach climax to propagate the Species..
therefore, i put this to you ..
WOMEN HAVE THE PROBLEM ..... AGAIN!!!
its not PREMATURE EJACULATION!!!.. ITS DELAYED ORGASM.. ( gristle-clit.. whatever..)
i suggest we get the bloody drug companies to whip up a pill to make that poor gender howl like a pack of feral dogs ...then blast it all over the fucking radio when im trying to talk to clients and have you EVER tried to keep a straight face when the dude on the Rock says you have a small penis and cant please a woman ...

Premature ejaculation is when you get booted out of the pub before closing time.....
What are you doing , showing your penis to the dude on the rock...
You can't please women... just satisfy them... sometimes..
