Somewhat of a thread hijack here, I'm in the looking for a tyre of 140/70 proportions, and 17" in diameter.
I liked the look of the Battlaxes, yay/nay?

Really? they never recognise me, and iv'e spend around $2000 there in the past 6 months........even spent an age talking to one of them over a new helmet, came back for tyres couple of weeks later and you would have thought i'd walked in from somalia, certainly no discount/recognition or anything!

Ask for the discount. Something like "Any discounts going on now?" "Is this item on sale?" "Is this the best price you can do?"
I went there a few weeks ago and got a 10% discount off a new helmet buy asking if I could have a discount. He gave it to me...

Is that guy who used to work in the workshop at CT's now working at Drury tires? He was always good for a yarn and a discount.

Same here.
I brought a helmet and a pair of gloves from there in last Thursday. The guy gave me about 10% off after I ask the same question. He also suggest me to register on their website and get an VIP card, which probably give you more discount.

There used to be a coupon thingy on vouchermate.co.nz for something like 15% off tyres at cycle treads.
Not sure if it's still there, you'll have to have a look.

Yeah, I told him I was a VIP member online (which I am) and he gave me 10% off. It never hurts to ask, the worse that could happen is they say no and you pay the full price...

Never pay retail for anything.
I need a new cage, and I was getting really pissed off at needing to borrow my mate's Hilux whenever I need to tow anything anywhere. So I went to the Jeep place on the Northshore...
They showed me a nice Jeep, then offered me a $1000 discount off retail. I chuckled at that, then when I got home, I emailed 4 ads from TradeMe, same vehicle - $14,000 off on the best one.
Needless to say, I ain't going to be buying one from the NorthShore Jeep dealer...

Thats Mike, he's a good c00nt.
Cycletreads to offer discounts - the VIP card thing will help from time to time, but at the end of the day their prices are pretty fair.
