Well after getting some surgery done on my shoulder I hadn't been back on the sidecar for a few months and after it'd had a trip to Ashvegas and the nice guys at Honda Country to optimise the fueling we had a round to do before the trip North to Wanga's as shakedown and make sure all was good
The couple of weeks before there'd been a lot of sanding and painting to get the new colour scheme on the bike and make the body work fit properly, which resulted in a torrent of abuse form Divvo's mouth when it wasn't quite right and he's normally such a placid fellow:rolleyes:
7.05pm I'm pulling in Divvo's driveway and hooking up to the trailer and we load up and drive all of 10 minutes to the track
We're getting set up when Divvo notices the bent rose joint, possibly from where it'd been strapped down on the dyno, now the chances of getting a 8mm left hand threaded rose joint at 8.30 on a Sunday morning are pretty bloody slim, especially when the speed shop doesn't open until 9, so we consoled ourselves with breakfast burger king and shot off back to the shop which was just opening
Unfortunately as all the speedway homos run American made crap and the merkins aren't yet intelligent enough to use the metric system our hopes were dashed:mad:
Remembering the Karts I raced used 8mm rose joints in the steering we took a punt on there being a Kart meeting on and shot off to the track and lo and behold a sea of ezy-ups greeted us , finding the kart shop guy didn't take to long and he had what we needed:sweatdrop and all was right with the world once again and we head off back to fit it
P1
Rolling out onto the track and away we go, we've got an Avon on the rear and as this session confirms they're rubbish, it doesn't slide predictably and lights up with little provocation but we knock up a few laps and then pull back in
We swap out the rear for the spare Yokohama, quick look over and we're good to go
R1
We go off the front and go out hard,by the end of the frst lap we've pulled 60-70 metres and we keep the hammer down for a few more to extend it, Divvo's arm is going to sleep after he damaged his shoulder from skiing into the ground a few months back (in reality probably masturbation induced RSI):tugger:, we dial it down about lap 4 and promptly run off the track at pothole and over the ripple strip but rejoin without any problems and run on home for 1st
R2
We give ourselves a handicap and let all the other outfits dissapear around turn 1 before we go after them, unknown to us Graham/Karl were late to the grid and are held in pit lane until after we launch so they get an unintentional handicap as well
Catch and pass Bill/Trish lap1 and head after Alex/Glen, we nail them after the infield sweeper, Alex/Glen are pretty good around the infield and hang in for a couple of corners but we drop them off and set off after Colin/Paul another lap and we're right behind them into the sweeper and out accerate them down the straight
We'd thought they might be a bit harder work as we're running identical motors, but we pull past, I give them a wave:wavey: and we bugger off for another win
R3
We leave the line at the same time but taking it easy, we pass Bill/Trish by turn 1 and slot in behind Alex/Glen, we pull past then and tag onto Colin/Paul, putting the pressure on pulling along side and backing out until we decide to pull finger and chase down Graham/Karl
We have to back out a couple of times or run into the back of him when he proves to be a bit slow in a couple of places, we go out wide into the infield sweeper and turn in underneath him on the way out and pull past and then crank it up for the next two laps to pull a gap and win the last one
So the days over, shoulders feeling good, Bikes feeling good, roll on Wanganui:wari:
