View Full Version : Why Holeshot has lost my business forever (the getting fucked around thread)

I dropped Scoot on the trailer at Taupo on September 26th, and if I had of known what was ahead of me I would have gone postal and kicked the shit out it then and there...
Anyhow, I digress.
Dropped the bike. Made a claim. Got told to turn up to Holeshot (who I stupidly named as the repairer). Parts guy made a note of the VIN and priced up the parts.
Assessor said that the bike needed to be assessed by the workshop manager. Which would have been fine if the guy was ever there. I went back in five times, and finally the assessor tied the guy down, and the bike was assessed.
Turns out they're going to repair the panel, not happy considering I pay for full insurance, and the damage aside, there's not a single scratch on Scoot...
Finally got the go-ahead from the assessor, dropped the bike off last Wednesday.
Dropped in this morning after expecting the repair to be pretty much completed, they haven't started on the bike. The workshop manager tells me that the bike isn't even booked in, he hasn't called the assessor etc etc...
That is so fucked. This process has taken since late September. I lost patience and after having a rant at Jamie (one of the owners), I'm picking Scoot up tomorrow.
Now, I've run a chain of retail stores, and when I was GM, if someone had of had this happen, I would have bent over backwards to get it sorted without the need for several visits, or no action at all.
This is so fucking piss poor.
So, no more visits to Holeshot for AlpineStars stuff. No more servicing in their workshop. Definitely won't be spending my next bonus cheque on a new 750 in their store. I've spent literally thousands on stuff over the years and a couple of their guys are decent sorts, but...

Maybe they were just really busy and/or understaffed? It's only been there two-and-a-bit days, innit?
What is dumb is they're not actually gonna do the work themselves, are they? Won't they just remove the panel and shoot it off to Reflections or wherever?

Went there once to service our new GSXR1000 (which we brought from them....) at the 1000km and got a nice heavy bill, more than $50 on the quoted price. Sorry, we dont suffer fools.

If you look at the history, it's not just the 2.5 days (which should be more than enough time to even look at pulling the fairing off).
My experience with them until now has been good. But this has just been a piss-take. I've been without bike over the weekend (Starship Toy Run), and I'm sure as fuck not missing out on Scoot over the Xmas period (its bad enough being the Xmas Grinch without family without having no sportsbike to play on).

I have found Rob the workshop foreman to be a very helpful & accommdating guy, he bent over backwards to help on my warranty claim & subsequent repairs, I know he went above & beyond to sort out a mates bike so he could go to the Munro shindig.
I stopped using them when Stu left , but the current wokshop set up has worked for me.
If it was me,I would be writing to Holeshot & who ever the bikes distributor is rather than start a public slanging match that will create a whole bunch of ill will for bugger all gain. I do understand your frustration.

Ive had 3 insurance claims on my bike, 1 caused by me the other 2 by pricks who just ugh dont like bikers or something...
And every where I been has been slack reflections the worst by far.. never again. Wild west had to deal with the first bullshit from reflections So i can understand that side of it and gave me a loan bike for my hassels ( still went on for about 2-3months ) Im yet to find a bike shop who will do EVERYTHING they will say they will...
Wild West been the best by far thoug, Ive even had problems just ordering bike gear from shops,. basic shit like sparkplugs , I worked at a Holden Dealership and no way did we treat customers how bike shops seem to treat theirs

I've not had any dealings with their workshop, but have big issues with the service in their sales department. There is a salesman there that just seems to have an issue with chicks on bikes. If I go in there alone I get ignored, if I go there with a male, I still get ignored, but at least my friend is being talked too. Hence I went to TSS Red Baron in Wellington for my bike! They rock!!!!!

It's a sexist industry...
Interestingly, the salesguys in the shop tend to be pretty good, they're reasonable, and they make an effort. But I'm not a chick, and I'm pretty direct...

It's pretty shocking getting this sort of customer service.
It's usually a chain effect from the top, when management systems are flawed, the staff selection is usually rubbish, then you get poorly trained staff that giving you shit service.
I am making no judgement call here cuz I don't go to Holeshot. Unfortunately it only takes one bad experience to fuck up all the good ones. Give me them another go, or at least give them a chance to explain themselves.
Sometimes things are shit because they have valid reasons but then again, it's up to you, the customer to make the call.

Old chinese proverb springs to mind ...
"Business treatment of customers is like giving out wooden chopsticks at dinner time, one does not know who will get the splintered sharp bit first!"
This resolves nicely with :
"Satisfaction of customer only happens with happy ending, paid for in advance and usually with someone holding the sticky end"
Rounding off with ;
"Happiness is when you are holding all the cards and the other idiot has bet his first daughter against your all conquering hand. Get in first before someone else does!"
Frank you, prease come again, try the flied lice next time! Ruck you!

I wouldn't slag them off, may shop there again who knows?. I have purchased three bikes of them since 2004. Went back them earlier this year, wanted to trade the Sprint on the a Daytona they had, Jamie offered $7K as a trade, thats fine, they have there calculations I guess, but the offer was a litle insulting to be honest. I got $9K for it on trademe. Jamie suggested I sell it privately then go back and see them. Well, if I sell the bike privately, I will spent my money elsewhere, which I did. I think a saleman should be able to close a deal, any deal!!

Bought a new Volty from Holeshot a couple of years ago.
It had a dodgy carb and they didn't want to know about it. Wouldn't even book it in for warranty servicing.
I don't know if they're still a bunch of fuckwits, but I'm more than happy to go elsewhere.

I won't be going back either, bought a new $16k bike off them a year ago and am still waiting to get a part they said they would deliver on that was missing off the bike from new.
Bought hot grips off them that were supposed to be fitted by them when i picked up the bike. then wern't and eventually went and got & fitted myself because they couldn't be f****d

I picked up the scoot this morning, no one said a word to me, they just sort of looked in my general direction. If it had of been my business, I'd have to wanted to chat about things (but hey, what would I know?).
I walked in there last summer, with the difference in cash between what I thought a reasonable price for scoot would be, against the price of a new 750. I had the wad of cash in my pocket, it looked like a brick against my side. After some discussion, they wanted to give me less than I would have thought possible against what I thought they'd sell her for. The price was confirmed when I saw a similar thou (with 15,000k more mileage) for sale for $1,000 more than I thought they'd retail it for... I rode away with cash in pocket, and instead MadBikeBabe has a nicer car.

Always the way, just hard to guage how certain stores approach any given prospective customer - everyone has different experiences that counters the experiences of others ...
But MBB knows what he has gone through in his current experience. And it doesn't take much to hack off a discerning biker with plenty of coin in their pockets to take it somewhere else that wants it!
I've fortunately never had an unpleasant experience yet ... maybe its the asian ninja discrimination thing - "ooh asian dude, must have pingers"
To each their own and to their own they owe nothing!
I think MBB's sensitive new-age side is coming through and they are not valuing his visionary approach to being a biker! :sweatdrop

Okay, again, I haven't slagged them off, I've stuck to fact and opinion. No where have I slagged, and in fact, I've said good things about their sales guys.
They should have the balls to say it out loud, but it'd be ironic given how hard they haven't tried to do the correct thing (i.e. get my bike fixed and work with the assessor in a professional and diligent way).

They will probably see it as slagging off though. It's public name and shame and bad publicity... Call it what you will, it's still not good for them.
At least if they have seen it, you can only hope they realise that they do suck and take action to improve their image and customer service...

Yeah mate I agree....get the deal done!
Is it really that hard when someone wants to spend money in your shop??
All they have to ask is, ''what will it take to do the deal''?? and make it happen, tweak the figures in ya have to just make it happen, want the business or not? there should be no grey area, is back or white.
They made it happen for me here at Warkworth Honda.

The idea of a business is to make money, not just "close deals". Trading in will always get a lower price than private sale. If they didn't bike shops would just end up as a "swap shop". With the warranty and consumer protection they are forced to give on all bikes they wouldn't make any money at all.

So?
If they are, in fact, a business that wants to (first) survive and (second) expand, then working out what "customer service" is, would be a good starting point.
If they cannot deal with this minor point then they should close their doors immediately.
I would hazard a guess that ANY dealership around the country, watches a minimum potential of $15,000 worth of business walk in and out of their doors on a daily basis.
How they take advantage of that business is up to them... unfortunately.
