View Full Version : Wheels for an XR600

Trying to locate some spare wheels for my XR600, so I can keep my dirt tyres for dirt rides and do a quick swap for riding on the road.
Does anyone know what wheels are compatible? I'm happy with either going the motard way or another dual purpose combination; just want something reasonably priced as it's a great bike for both off road and on road with the right tyres but really not exciting to have to change the tyres every week.
I'm looking at some CRF450 wheels wondering if they might work as the hubs look very similar - anyone know?
Thanks

I'm doing a simular thing on a newly purchased XR600RE, It would appear that CBR250 MC14 rear sorts me out (I'm drum rear). But I'm trying a CBR250 MC22 front (with brakes) as they were a large single disc.
A couple of hundred $'s will hopefully see this mod done with bearing changes to the wheels and some time on the lathe at work making spacers. The rear MC14 whell looks like it might be a straight fit.......but I doubt it.
I understand that the ex roadbike wheels wont stand up to much punishment when you get off the road, I'm doing it for a Pre 89 race project.

Okay thanks for the info. Mines got disks both ends. I looked at a CRF450 yesterday and while the style is very similar the dimensions aren't the same (the front axle is bigger for example). I really need to take mine apart and do some measurements. Let us know how yours works out.
