You're now the second to lose one from down there, where was it parked? in the middle area next to the stairs or in the marked bike parks?

In the marked parks on the right hand side. right next to my mates scooter - his was still there when we went to leave but mine wasn't!

Hopefully you were insured? Not the first bike to go from down there - this might be enough to get a REAL camera put in down there?

Yes Its insured! tried ringing dave but there was no answer, guess I can ring him tomorrow.
And yeah I reported it to unisafe and they sent some blokes out to talk to me and take notes etc.. they seemed pretty happy I had reported it to them too.
Anybody know who runs the camera on the traffic lights by the ped crossing to albert park?

Sorry to hear this. Just as a matter of interest, what security did the bike have? Disk lock? Chained to something that could not be moved?
There have been so many bikes stolen, I simply can not imagine how they continue to get away with it.

no :( arrgh. I was running late for work I just jumped off and ran! Steering lock was on and pointed in such a way they couldn't roll it out without smashing the lock.. but fuck.
I dont know how much protection my little disc lock would have offered, tho obviously not alot when its not attached! :(

Suck! They are smart you know, they watch, I guess this shows you can not ever be slack in the security of your bike in certain places. Gutted for you mate. Hope the bike is fully insured and you can get another one, as the likelyhood of getting yours back intact, all things considered is bleak. Good luck with it all!

If you park there regularly it was probably targetted and knicked almost immediately after you arrived. I've sent out an email to the club, someone might have spotted it at some point

Not regular there at all, I'm not a uni student but have been working in the theatre there sometimes, its probably been parked there twice in the last two weeks, and only a handful of times over the year.
Cheers for emailing everyone :)

Will definately keep my eyes peeled. I'm pissed whenever anything is stolen, but I'm seriously pissed when a CBR is stolen. Beautiful bike man, I hope it gets found in one piece.
Put up notices at all bike stores in Auckland mate. :msn-wink:

Auckland Uni's security is fucken shocking.
Bad luck, will keep an eye out as it's pretty distinct, but yea even a small disc lock might've deterred the thieves, always in hindsight eh...

easy - no cameras and the public doesn't raise an eyebrow when they see a guy starting his bike with a screwdriver
good luck finding your bike mate - my nc30 was nicked within 30 minutes of parking there

Nice spotting, though the stolen one got black rims, different can, more decals a clear screen and tidier forks.
However, you never know with things these days........

Yea, the security is average at best round there...I reccomend that bikers go park down in the commerce building carpark, free parking for bikes, cameras, barriers and it's pretty much always manned. That being said though, I've heard that a few cars were stolen from the bottom floor..Every little bit helps though.
Sucks though dude, will keep a fist and an eye out for your baby!

Yeah, close but not quite. My forks were cleaner & I'd cut off the rear reflector..
I have to wait 14 days before insurance will start thinking about a claim :(
The weather is perfect I want to be riding NOW! :(

Hey,
My mum is 100% certain that she saw this bike going along Te Atatu Road yesterday (25th February), at around 5:15-5:30pm.
She'd put money on the fact that is was this bike.
