View Full Version : He, She or It?

Was just reading a post which commented on the fact that someone called their bike "it" when others called theirs "he" or "she"....

So what do you call yours? And why?

Just curious - and I don't think there is another post on this (at least the search function didn't indicate so.....).

Can't vote cause I'm a naughty boy.

Mine's an 'it'. A very special 'it' indeed, but an 'it' none the less.

(And, 'it' doesn't have a name!)

I refer to mine as a shabby old slapper who uses my credit card to much in vain hope of being considered something more than mutton dressed up as lamb.:Pokey:

(And, 'it' doesn't have a name!)

Mine does`nt have a name either .
But I do call her baby everytime I ride. I say get me home safely baby .
So my bike is a "she",
A man riding a "HE" just does`nt seem right (no offence to men riding HE S` out there.)

Nutter34
16th December 2008, 18:54
Usually refer to the bike as the 10...

Occasionally while riding, or walking through the garage, I'll refer to the bike as 'girl'...

Pamela the bucket is definitely all woman!! The Hornet, I'm not sure, haven't decided....

Well funnily enuff I have them both represented!

lil'ol'hornet is a boy
Big Ol'Hornet is lil'ol'hornet's older brother
Daisy is a born two stroker slapper
Betsy is her older, more experienced friend
Pippi is just a sweet little adorable ride (Poppi would be too, but needs more gussying up)

How I get their names is usually by riding them for a wee while and then the name just pops into my head (unless they already have a name!)

I'll keep doing it this way until some sort of reasonable sanity soaks slowly into my simmering imagination! :innocent:

Hehehehe, mine are "my girls"

16th December 2008, 20:03
Seeing as I named my bike after a girl it'd hardly be fitting to refer to the VTR as "he" or "it". Plus the girl would kick me right in the beanbag.

'She' - because I would not ride a guy.

Katman
16th December 2008, 20:39
Interestingly though, while I call my bike an 'it', I actually see all motorcycles as animate objects. That's why I secretly cringe while I watch the burnout competitions at the bike rallies.

16th December 2008, 20:47
Other bikes ive had are mostly shes. The older the bike..the more likely its a she. There is no method to my madness..just how it is. Current one is an 'it'. Its the bloody mozzie.

I'd agree with that... but then, my supermoto is all aggressive and loves being a hooligan... so its more male than female... maybe its confused? or me?

All my other bikes have been shes... my girl, etc... so confused on the current one. All it likes doing is scaring others and misbehaving... maybe its a baaaad girl...

(and it was very dirty...)

I've named mine Bertie. No idea where the name came from it just popped into my head on a ride to Tauranga, and the name just stuck.

16th December 2008, 23:34
All my bikes are boys, they are my best friends, but they don't have names so they are "it" when I'm talking about them.

I think it's because when I was little and my sister rode horses, there was a male one there and I pretended to be it's best friend and I was allowed to go for rides on him:o

What was the previous one?

Or is it Cherry 1 and Cherry 2? Or are they just an extension of each other?

Mine was just called a "she" but sometimes it was called stronger words when it was giving trouble or just generally annoying me

gunrunner
17th December 2008, 04:27
Mines a she , have called her the Iron Maiden due to the fact that she has been round for years can kick arse when she wants to and she goes on tour every now and then .

17th December 2008, 08:16
It's just a thing. Although I have in the past referred to it as the VifFerraRi, generally it's just "the bike" or "the VFR" and it's still just a machine, like all the bikes and cars I've ever owned.

No, Scoot is not a thing. She is a living, breathing organism with fire in her belly. We live symbiotically, in harmony. She warns me if I'm being too rough or careless, and she has moments of divine inspiration. She is rasty and bad tempered, and will raise her front or shake her head when she's annoyed. She is soulful, and when she sings, it raises the hair on the back of my neck.

LOL... Slowfox, you already know my answer to this question/poll.

I'm pretty sure that Tootle calls her it because i "seem" to enjoy spending more time and money on her and see's her as the competition.

Hailwood
17th December 2008, 10:58
She always seems to ride better after I spend money on her.....

I treat the new one as the same bike. Some of the plastics and other bits are left overs.=)

The Orgasmatron is definitely "she" as such a pleasure producing device could only be female...

V twins don't need Google maps to find the Gspot :innocent:

17th December 2008, 11:25
The X1 is female thru and thru...god! just look at her shape! She is a lady with a serious tomboy streak (not unlike her owner). She likes to be looked after but is always up for a good thrashing!

The Firebolt is pure TESTOSTERONE...bloody thing keeps sidling closer to the X1 tryin' to get 'his leg over'...

Nagash
17th December 2008, 11:33
Err, I look at my bike slightly differently it would seem then.

I don't think of it as another being but more just an extension of my own body. Attatching wheels to my lower torso, so therefore it isn't a he/she/it but more it's just another part of myself. Like cyborg enhancements :D

Otherwise it's referred to as the Yellow Canary

Blossom
17th December 2008, 11:56
Mines a she. I named her Carrie. Although for a long time she was just 'the bike'. Took a while to name her and I think the tassles on the saddlebags kinda determined the gender. Not sure how I feel about riding a girl but meh... gotta try everything once.

17th December 2008, 18:58
Mine is an 'It' at the moment but my wee son wants to give it a name for Christmas as he tells me he has a present for it and wants to know what to write on the label.

Needless to say, I'm glad I have a boy otherwise with a girl I might get Puddleduck, Hannah Montana or Daisy Doo.

Saying that, the lanuage my boy has been using lately (which he must get from his mother) I will prbably end up with a bike by the name of F**ksake, Tosser, F*****g Cager C**t....or Dave

I'd feel like a bit of a fag riding a guy wouldn't I? (no honda jokes ere dicks)

therefore - it, is a she.

Actually it's ma baby. But yes, it's a sexy gurl
