Is this a fucking joke (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10548474)???
----------------------------------
Chris Kahui, who was cleared of murdering his twin baby sons, has slated police for doing "nothing" to find the real killer.
Three-month-old Chris and Cru "scream out for justice," Mr Kahui told Auckland's East and Bays Courier.
Mr Kahui said he struggled to accept the deaths of his sons and the fact that their killer was still on the loose added to his burden.
----------------------------------
Their killer is still on the loose? He's talking like he doesn't know who it was!!!
WTF man!!! Why even print that rubbish!

As much as I want to resist commenting on this but its honestly to dam hard.
Kahui must have an idea of how his children got killed ffs, and sorry I know that CYF get things wrong but there must be a reason that they dont want him near his new daughter.
Funny how the whole family clammed up and refused to talk, I notice they still aren't.

On this one I just don't know. Jury freed him in minutes so what they says: just read my first sentance.

My thoughts too and at the risk of sounding racist I've never known a maori who can keep his mouth shut so I'm picking there is more than one who knows.
They'll have falling out one day.

They need to sterilize the bugger so he doesn't have more. He's not fit to be a parent, neither are the others who went silent... I agree, someone there knows what's up. The fact they all clammed up and now he's on his high horse, just sucks really. They shouldn't even pay the fucker any attention.

This one won't go away in a hurry, nor should it.
I suspect in time to come the truth will be known, as has been mentioned, maybe a fall out from the "tight 12" or whatever the knuckle dragger's have been labeled.

im confused on something... there were what? 3 people convicted of murder and two of manslaughter in the shooting of baby jiha [crap, i know thats wrong!] but only one man pulled the trigger that fired the fatal bullet, yet multiple people hurt and eventually murdered these twins, but theres only one person charged? they should have all been charged, like the "whanau" that killed nia in rotorua.

from day one I thought they should lock the whole fucken family up. Put them all into a dark room full of white noise, that'll get someone talking eventually........fucken mongrels the lot of them.......yay we get to pay for them to live......

Those poor poor babies is all I can say - everyone in that family knows who killed them and they should all be locked up. ALL OF THEM!

Its no excuse but we aren't talking about the sharpest knives in the drawer with this family. Chris Kahui was acquitted which simply means the police couldn't get enough evidence to persuade the jury. No surprise there when the whole family refused to speak and had lawyers advising them even before charges were laid.
I suspect these poor wee boys were mistreated by more than one person and it may not be clear who dealt the final criminal blows. Unless there is a confession its unlikely we will ever know.

But that is exactly what the family did, keeping thier mouths shut. His claim they were giving statements at the same time is utter bollocks. They all closed ranks to protect the killer.
But very true... there will be a falling out, one day... Probably over whose turn it is to shout the Lion Red or buy the Port Royal tobacco....

Little darling babies, I was appalled that following thier deaths, a Tangi was allowed to be held, these were babies with multiple injuries and any ceremonial aspects SHOULD take a backseat to abuse cases. From Day 1 it was a mess and the family had all the power.
I don't know who killed the little darlings, this is what 'experts' are paid to find out. If the father has been cleared then hes been cleared, NZs justice system, a work in progress.
I sincerely hope that these little ones find justice, this is unacceptable whats happening to our babies.

What IS a joke is the fact that if someone borrows one of my vehicles, commits a crime, be it a minor traffic offense or worse, if I don't want to be lumbered with the fine/repercussions then I MUST name that person or take it on the chin myself.
Thats an interesting set of values we have as a nation <_<

This is made a lot easier if people answer questions when asked.. rather than keeping their gob shut to protect someone.

It works fine when people don't cover up who commited a murder.

Maybe if the double jeapardy law is changed, they might.

Know what you mean but that only applies to vehicle related offences. If someone borrows your house, your clothes, your tools etc and commits a crime, you cannot be compelled to name them. The compulsion to give information to the Police is actually very narrow. In fact you have a choice - simply say nothing and be fined for refusal. You cannot be compelled.

Yeah well aware it relates to just vehicle offenses, what is questionable is you HAVE to name names for a vehicle related incident but can remain tight lipped in a murder case.
Throw the fucking lot of them in jail, THATS what should of happened, in my ever so humble opinion.
Fucking sub human baby killers :bash:

I'm not entirely unsympathetic but the problem is once they are all in jail and they all start naming names how do you tell who is telling the truth. Many would argue that in this case it probably would not matter.
Justice is sometimes slow but remember even the slowest rider reaches the finish line.

In such an ideal world, you wouldn't be feeding any of them in prison anyway.
About 70 days, assuming you give them water, and there wouldn't be a problem. They can name names all they like.

For murder, I think it has changed. If new evidence comes to light, they can be re-charged... Could be a falling out confession...?

Let them name names... charge each one that is named. Hopefully there will be lots of names........ Will serve em all right for closing ranks to protect the killer in the first place. Should be more than just the one to blame anyway...

After the acquittal there was some discussion (nothing else in statue) in the media about double jeopardy rule and if the law should be changed. There is always some sympathy for this when it appears that the accused is guilty and gets off.
While this can be understood as in the case of child killings the other side of the equation is that if the double jeopardy law was legal there could be a tendency for the first trial to be sloppy with the prosecution and this is not the police but the Crown Law Office knowing that they can have another crack.
The speed of Kahu’s acquittal suggests to me that some one wanted a ‘victim’ due to the public’s abhorrence of the killing. My own view is that in future whoever makes these decisions they will be taken on the evidence, other that public opinion to produce a suspect.
As far as I know English law has never allowed a second ‘crack’ for murder. While some may argue that tradition is not a good enough reason for change I hold the view that it is better to err on the side of caution.

One of our local BP shitheads got away with murder. He defeated the course of justice by having some bullshit alibi and it got him off the murder charge. This was found out and he got the maximum 7 years for defeating the course of justice and the judge at the time said he got away with murder as a result.
Tis case in particular was why they were looking at the double jeopardy rule. Dunno if it has actually changed or not, but thought it had, in circumstances such as this case....
This was relatively recent, but the shithead is out now, having served his 1/3 of his sentence, has handed his patch in because he wants to turn a new leaf and open up a youth centre for troubled teens. TUI!!!!!!!
A recruiting drive for the BP more like it..... All paid for by Govt Funding, of course.
What a crock he has turned a new leaf... he beat up a chick at a party because she gave one of his boys a hard time.... and she is too scared to speak out, because of all of his BP mates he hangs with - all the time.....

There will always be indavidual cases that can be used to justify the use of double jeopardy or for that matter any type of arguement be it for or against.
In the case that you quoted it would appear that the acussed got off by way of an alibi. This seems to be the result of perjury and perhaps the penalty for that needs to be increased. Maybe penalties in line with the type of offence where perjury was commited.
At the end of the day we all hold views that we belive to be correct in this I am no different than from yourself or for that matter those hold much the same opinion as your self.

Fair call...
Dunno the full argument for perjury in this case, but do know he went down for the defeating the course of justice. No doubt legal section went over it with a fine tooth comb.
