On Christmas what do you do.
My Christmas has changed a wee bit after meeting my Lady who is Portuguese.
They go to Mass on Christmas eve then open a present when they get home.
On xmas morning I get my xmas loving:2thumbsup then we get up 2 mins later to open the rest of the presents. Have a breakfast of pancakes. Our lunch is different to the kiwi one as they have a Christmas fish insted of the xmas ham on the bone....... Thats been a bit stressfull So I allways get a ham on the bone and have it in the fridge lol.
Dinner is allways a leg of lamb with all the trimmings.
Is any other cultures different????
Yummy puddings though.

My christmas changed every year ... it depended on where we were, who we were with and the weather!

As a kid we did the morning presents (after making our parents breakfast) ... and then played and had an awesome ham and huge spread for lunch ...

Then I left home and just went home for the christmas

then I moved in with Grub and we did what we wanted ... BBQ lunch ... fish, ham, chickens ... orphans lunch with others coming over ... up with his family .. over with mine ... this year is different again

Staying at a freinds in auckland
Brunch with her, her partner and their daughter ... and present opening

Later over to FunFleas ... for a catch up and gos

Then to Grubs mums

present opening and then a light dinner - will be ham and that stuff

Then off to Moms and mahas ... for sleep

I will miss Grub .. (mainly cos I like it when he drives and also as he isn't here I am taking the car not the bike) ... but I need to start thinking about new things to do as well.

Include the good slapping into the loving and you'll get 4 mins......

We are a bit lazy when it comes to christmas. The kids get up at some ungodly hour open thier prezzies, make a mess, alot of noise, then we tidy up and have weet-bix for breakfast and the day pans out just like any other really. Sometimes a family dinner around at my inlaws but all low key and stress free.

Used to be dads parents for morning, light lunch at home, mums mothers place for tea, presents opened at first light as kids.
Then grandparents die,got married inlaws and parents for xmas.Parents, myself divorce lol, both parents to see nothing much changes.

Can't help thinking the best xmas were when as kids all the cousins, aunties, uncles went to dads parents and then to mums parents and a bloody big day was had.Seems so simple then everyone new where to be on the day,now my brother is in Queenstown he has no kids and will be there this year, parents doing their thing lol.Seems to be just another day and lost the excitement factor, enjoying family company etc.

But then when 5 years ago you are starting chemo and radiation, thinking shit I should have been dead 5 years ago,you get to appreciate each day not just xmas.

Hubby's parents are Dutch. Christmas is always church first in the morning, then pressies when you get home (with as many family members squashed into the house as possible.....Oma's like that.....)

Food is usually "lots"; but best is Nieuw Jaar met oliebollen!!!

Yes dammit, we will be there for new year so those donuts are going to wreck havoc! (Unless I'm a very good girl and resist them calling out to me).

I have a couple of asian friends. Christmas isn't a biggy for them. Chinese new year is the big event for most asians.

A couple of christmases ago we just went camping and spent christmas morning on top of a hill with a bag of dried apricots...

Actually, I worked with a really cool guy back in the UK years ago.

He was a devout catholic and went to midnight mas on Christmas eve, Then straight to the local homeless shelter looking after the 'down-and-outs' for the rest of the night and all of Christmas Day.

His attitude was that to those guys, people like us 'have Christmas day every day' so he decied to help others when the rest of us where pissing it up and eating oursleves silly.

Nice touch I though, there are some good people in the world when all is said and done.....

Oh, I see, fair comment bro'

You could always use Australian foreplay. Just knudge her in the ribs and say "Oi, you awake..?"

Oh and as we all know, Australians are the best advocates of contraception in the developed world. They simply use their personalities....:wari:

Best Christmas dinner sitting at McD's in Sydney last year for dinner, I generally work Christmas and have done for years, so it a non event for me now.

On that note though these oliebollen thingies are sounding interesting.

Kendog and I spend every second Xmas at home, the other with my mum. The year we are at home we go to the movies on Xmas afternoon. There is normally something half decent playing at the Embassy Theatre here in Welly on Xmas day, and it breaks the day so we don't end up sitting about on our own eating too much, getting too pissed and playing too much Xbox!!

Well thats sounds like an interesting idea for next year.
Looks like we will be moving down between March - April. due to new job.
I am going to find my dads grave when we move down havent been to it since I left for the army in 85.
Its times like this you realy miss your loved ones that have passed away. I still remember my last present from him. one of those racing cars that have a zip like cord that go's in the middle with the one big wheel in the middle.
Sorry guys i get all softy closer to Christmas. :weep:
Dont get me wrong..... I will still stab you though, Then hug you.

mine to seems to change every year, this year it will not only be without family but also without a husband & inlaws! Im spending a quiet christmas with my close friends (one who despises christmas and will be in the house but a non-participant). We plan to have Christmas Breakfast and then thats it as far as a gathering goes, everyone will split and go thier own ways after that.

Its not all doom & gloom though lol I have my 3 kids with me (eldest is here for 4 weeks) and thats pretty much what its about eh, being with loved ones.

Culturally .. ummmmm .. Ill just miss being in NZ but thats ok Iv got a picture of it on my wall hahahaha

*I secretly wish to have one of those massive christmas days with loads of people loads of food a christmas tree that touches the ceiling, lights & dancing reindeers on the front porch, and sitting up late at night on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa .. only as I get older .. Im envisioning him wearing less and less .......
