Has any body been up Odlins Road recently?

Trying to find out what state the track is in and if it is passable to the hut? Have heard a rumour there has been a big slip past the tank traps that has wiped out the track? Would be good to ascertain if this is the case or not as we may need to arrange a track maintenance day and take gear in by truck.

A few were up that way a couple of weeks ago, bit of a mention of the ride in this thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=85178&page=5

So it looks like it is still passable by bikes.

Cheers

Hi Giles

its all good untill about 1k after the tank traps. theres 3 or 4 washouts that are fine on a trail bike but could be really nasty if you got it wrong on a heavier bike.

Personally I wouldn't attempt the last bit to the hut on my KLR unless I had 3-4 pushers.

have a look here (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317350&page=15) for some photos

Had a look at the links, and it looks like it is in pretty much it's 'normal' condition. Thinking about taking the truck in some time in the New Year, as I think some maintenance work is likely to be overdue on the memorial at the hut, so would be looking to take some eqpt in.

I'd heard rumour a big slip had made it impassable, but I've not been able to gather any 'evidence' and your photos are raising any alarms...yet!
