does anyone here know how the kx stacks up against the ktm?
price wise the kx is way way cheaper.
the ktm looks better with upside down forks and wot not but will this make a difference for a 7 yr old?
he is still working on his skills so will the ktm be more forgiving .
i am a bit wary on ktm saying it has all the flash parts because are they really as good as an aftermarket part or are they just built to a price and put a marzzocchi sticker on the fork and stuff.
any feed back appreciatted.
i realise a fast kid will be fast on anything really but luke will just be progressing to a 65 in the new year sometime .
Thanks Karl

I've heard that in the 65c class the kids need to be on a KTM to even get a look in. I don't ride them myself obviously haha but was speaking with Dave at (then) boyd honda (now boyd motorcycles who sell Ktm's haha) whose grandkids ride KTM kids bikes. He said that they have a heap more grunt then any of the other manufacturers. And you don't really see any other manufacturers out on the track so i'd say he's probably right.

The KX is way more reliable but the technology is getting a tad dated. But is it worth a couple of grand more to go to the KTM. If its his first clutch bike bike then go for the KX.

it is quite simple, Joshia Natzke won the NI Mini champs on a KX65, then won the NZ;s on a KTM65,
it comes down to the person twisting the throttle

I think if I had the money, I would have gone with the KTM, they seam a better setup bike but, in saying that as scott said, its all a matter of the person twisting the throttle. My little fella, is doing real well on his KX65, theirs not many KTM's in front of him, the ones that are, are riders that have been racing alot longer than him and have had a lot of coaching. he has gone from back of the pack at the being of the year, to being in the top 5 at North Harbour Mini Moto and runs top 3 at Harrisville, on the mini track.
