Posts: 236 Qualified 4th out of 20 riders, NOT all the best 600 cc riders were there, but I was!

Let me tell you a little story first though. I am the type of person who has always believed if you want some thing bad enough, you CAN get it, if it means working 24hrs a day, that is what must be done, IF you want it bad enough! ( my dad used to say that to me when I was a we boy)

Last week I pulled out of one meeting (Due to Politics I have told you all) It was Politics, MY own Politics and head space, I have NO sponsors out here this season at all with financial help, product YES, cash to get the job done NO, and as I have not really worked since June 2007, I have NO money, and are living on the edge big time, day by day, and as NZ is only a 4 million population, getting another persons cash is hard—“Pay attention other riders over that side of the world, ( THE UK and Ireland Scotland) YOU guys are so dam lucky, go and lick your sponsors shoes now and say thanks”

So this money situation has been eating away at me big time over the last 4 weeks as kick off has been getting closer, and then I get to the race meeting last week, and end up in a confrontation with an official and got angry- SO I left, I could not see the point in riding angry, and realised I was there for the wrong reason, I was there to get a race meeting stamp only, NOT because I really wanted to race, just to get a meeting out of the way.

I talked with OUR man “CB” during the week about lots of things, and he said to me, “ You only need to do this if this is what you want to do”

I thought very hard for the next 4 days, and realised finally
“Where there is a will, there is a way” I am sick of being so dam poor, it is a stress and it is embarrassing for a man of my age really, but my whole life I have been in charge of, and done what I wanted to do, so I guess the fact I have NO money is my own creation, so get on with It man I decided.

I love this game, why I do not know really, but I really love it!

I am coming back to race the TT to WIN (No disrespect to any other riders) Just total belief in myself again, and I know the gear we have there now is capable of winning!

Go and place your bets folks, I have been given this second chance for a reason, and I now 100% know, there is NO Girly bits in me, NO dress on my hips (sorry ladies) I am coming back to rock the other teams world, and I will only be giving 100% to this effort.

I am now seriously considering, moving over to Ireland as soon as maybe March next year, getting some part time cash work, and doing lots of testing development on the “ Wilson Craig Racing” Honda CBR600- I do need to tell Fiona this part of my planning, but I have a job to do, and DO that dam job I am going to, with more focus/commitment/passion than other rider out there could understand- I have won there, and I have been Killed there- Who else has my experience/ hahahahaha

I will do a mass release race set up testing report later on today/tonight and post it later on, but for now folks, THE REAL SHAUN HARRIS IS BACK

I strted crying at turn one yesterday when my race started, and continued to CRY with Plessure and joy for the whole race, it was hard to see!

When my 6 meetings are finished, I will be back to trying for the top step, Number 1 ie 1st in a race in NZ again:2guns:

Continental Tyres and Race Tech suspension ( Rob Dennis @ CKT) THANKYOU very much

Shit mate. This has got me all mixed up. I'm absolutely stoked that you're back doing what rings your bells, and terrified that it might go wrong, again. But I figure that that's racing in a nutshell. It's the same for all of us. So give it fucking heaps man and have as much fun as you can.:done:

Understand your thoughts mate, imagine how it has been for me to make this decision, my family, wife daughter and Friends ( Yes I do have some haha) I had to think for all of those people whilst making up my mind to pull the trigger or not, I am very glad with the decision I have made. I will not be trying ny hero tricks untill the flag drops for the TT next year, the next few race meetings in NZ are just for mental and physical practice for me, as well as working in with Robert at CKT with helping give feed back and development on the Race Tech suspension set up, that is the fun part of the job for me, testing work, I love it!

Totally loving it mate. It will NOT have the top end of the jap bikes, but is a real pleasure to ride. It is handling brilliant, but Robert at CKT is reworking the Race Tech front end for me at the moment, to give me the feel I want from it, it is all working very well cheers

Couldn't agree more "Where there's a will there's a way" Only you can do it. You have obviously learnt alot = learned to accept help, understand the nature of brain injuries, etc and apologised where necessary - that is the markings of a true man.

All the best in your endeavours. You will never settle for mediocrity - go for gold - life is short.

Just thought of this quote when reading this and think it suits the situation

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even
though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who
neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight
that knows not victory nor defeat."

Good luck with your future and if you need any help with details for Ireland let me know and Ill try help:niceone:

I know what you mean about the no money thing. NZ has no money. I got lucky in that when I was living in Melbourne, the wreckers where I was working on my little CBR250RR were more than happy to throw $500 at me for the endurance race. Also lucky with my two other monetary sponsors. It's more about relationship building than talent unfortunately, so you could come out and do amazing things and still get no sponsorship, it's taken me a good couple of years to build up a few sponsorship supporters.

I have cried while racing, but only cause I lost my mind. Usually i just end up screaming in my helmet when I get too pumped.

Love your fire and passion Shaun, do what's right for you. Do what you like and like what you do.

Continental and ricoh and CKT have got me this far, and I thank them all big time.

I am not concerned about not racing all the rounds, as I have been there done that, my racing again is all about going and finishing a job at the TT, and to have a big fight with a concrete wall that tried to claim me, ba hahahaha.

There is a very strong possibility that I will be at the rounds stering shit any way, WOOPS, I mean trying to pass on some Knoledge ( Or bull shite) to the up and coming riders here:innocent:
