Hiya all,
My girlfriend and I just arrived in NZ (auckland atm) and are looking to purchase a pair (but just one to start with as she just told me her bike licence had expired and so needs to get a NZ licence for now) of 250cc bikes asap. Well, not all that asap, we're from Canada and are enjoying the weather, but would like to get out of the big city sooner rather than later! They need to be road registerable, and not have any major engine issues. I don't mind fixing things, but don't have the tools, time, or space to be doing engine overhauls. And they can't cost too much as at the end of our three months, I need to be able to give it away if there isn't enough time to sell it. We just finished five months in Australia on a 2002 KLR650 and it was extremely frustrating selling it at the end. So cheaper is better in that respect. Oh, and they need to be able to carry two people in a pinch as we're hoping to explore some of the more remote areas of NZ and need to carry both of us out in case of non-repairable bike failure.
