Off and on ramps

What is the speed limit on motorway off and on ramps? There are never signs to tell you and there is always a baby in blue waiting on my on ramp.

If there is no sign on the ramp itself, it's at the same speed as the road you were traveling on, until you reach the motorway, or see a new sign.

Exactly the same as changing limits through a town when your coming from a side street.

Many are sign posted. If you are entering from a 50 zone, it is 50 until the sign on the ramp advising you of the new speed limit.
People have been ticketed on on ramps for exceeding 50 within metres of the 100 sign, it seems that some find this easy pickings for their "performance indicators".
On ramps are no different to anywhere else in that regard.

If there is no speed sign someone else (perhaps Ixion as he's pretty smart in these matters) would need to confirm where technically the motorway starts.

I got followed onto the barrys point road onramp this morning by a mufti. I rolled along the ramp at about 60, with cop right up my chuff, waited until the corner, then picked the bike up and nailed it to about 110 as I went through the sign...

Plod does the same and just about spins his Crummydore...

He followed me with 2 feet of separation for most of the journey, and when he finally got bored and turned off, I waited until he had a physical divider, then the front wheel got light and I got some aural revenge...

Are they not acceleration lanes? I would object very strongly to any dick that didn't start accelerating from 50kph until they had actually entered the motorway lane. That's just asking to be rear-ended.

From what I understand, the speed limit doesn't take effect until you've actually passed the sign.

I've been wrong in the past though. Many times.

Mangere Bridge -- this is exactly what the Bongo Wagon brigade do. Crawl along at 40kph then make it to 60kph by the time they're merging. Fookin' scary.

The signs are usually at the start of the onramps though aren't they?
